Where did today go? I'm not sure. I slept in and woke up at 10 and before I knew it it was 2 and I had a snack and I was watching some TV and then the fire alarm went off AGAIN (this has happened every few days for the last few weeks) and this time it wasn't shutting off so I wandered to the bank and took out some cash and then I got home and the alarm was off (and actually disabled by the fire department, HOORAY), and then I practiced at the loop pedal some more and then I got bored and started just chatting online about nothing in particular and now it's 7 PM and I haven't done anything today.
Meanwhile, the weather's gotten hot all the sudden. Today's high was something like 68 degrees! Meh.
qotd: What is your weather like?

QOTD: AWESOME here today! I'm going surfing in the morning, then coming back to work on the Blondie fight so I can get it off to my collaberzz. I need a good energy boost from the sea. I've been in a strange place the past few weeks.

We just had a huge thunder storm with heavy rain. It was 69 degrees that other day in MD. I guess this is the new winter.

We went and had a look at a house today. We have been looking at houses on and off for a month or so, just getting a feel for the market.
The house we went and saw today had a shed out the back, totally normal for a suburban Aussie backyard. But it had a smaller, triangle shaped shed attached to the back of it.
I have poor social manners, and no regard for personal space, so I cracked the shed open and had a look in. It just had a giant hole, about 1.5 meters deep in it, that veered off under the shed in a tunnel looking arrangement.
For all intents and purposes, to me, it looked like of of the tunnels in The Great Escape. Then Legs leans over and says "Huh. Looks kind of like the opening to the psychos hideout in 'Kiss The Girls'".
We just kind of looked at each other, then quietly left.
House hunting is fun!
QOTD: Hot and dry, like every other fucking day.

I have absolutely nothing to add to this....

we had a pretty killer day, too.. went to san mateo to pick up a '77 yamaha fg-335 for $200 with a hard case. not a spectacular deal, but fair, and it's in great shape and sounds good. while we were there, we went to the japanese gardens - which suck - and then had diner lunch, which was passable.
theeeen amber gave me my v-day gift: tickets to see Pinback tommorrow in SF. suuuuuuuuuhweet!
theeeeen we drove to SJ and played booty's first (and hopefully last) coffeeshop gig. we rehearsed total acoustic once, snare + brushes and two acoustic guitars, and i threatened to quit the band after about an hour. so we played a little more quietly than usual, with the little bundly deals for drumsticks, and it was aight. still f'n stupid, but aight. we did manage to pack the place, however, which is always gratifying.
spent about an hour straightening out the neck on the new acoustic. gonna let it settle tonight and then dick with it some more tomm. it is currently overstraightened. i didn't realize that a perfectly straight neck sucks on most acoustics, but google claims it does, soooo..
i had been playing a 3/4 size yamaha fg-jr that i got for one of amber's kids 5 years ago. it is beat to shit and won't hold tune to even the second fret, and one of the kids tore off the high-e tuner. not that i miss the high-e, mind you. it is, as proven by erik, entirely superfluous to rocking.
qotd: f'n gorgeous.

It is cold, but not nearly Canada cold. Light dusting of snow with a couple more inches en route. This is the start of the time of year that I like the least, weather-wise: February, March, April.
Blue - I can't remember which song(s), but I believe that Sonic Youth have used guitars strung with nothing but high E strings.

Bunting took to calling Wagner "Papa Smurf"; "First you go blue, then you go poo,"
Can't wait for the movie.
Never mind sausage boy, don't go back with a hidden camera.

I can't find his original comment, but Fluffy recently commented in DRC that nobody uses his raw audio tracks for anything. He may well regret that statement now. Here is a crude and noisy Bad Cat Frankenstein.

Wow, that's like U2 covering Yoko Ono. Love the guitar but still like the original better.
Today the temperature dropped 40 degrees and we've had crazy ass wind and snow blizzards alternating with clear sky and strong sunshine. Really wild. Hopefully snow will stick but somehow I think it's just transition storms blowing through. Went to China town for the parade with the boys.
