Anyway, the local NPR station never called me back about following up on the Mr. Potato Head collection, so I though I might as well post the original call-in session:

Good interview. I played it for my wife because she loves collecting stuff too. She thought your story was great. Unfortunately I mentioned that you have posted pics of your studio with your shelves for your Mr Spuds and she insisted that I look for them to show her. I gave up looking after about 2 minutes.

Holy obsession batman.

I collect shot glasses. My argument is that they are useful and I don't really have that many.

My cats broke 6 of them in their first two years.

bleh, more useless drivel here.

btw, there is no point in making that a question of the day, as you already know the answer.

The whole genre was rather nauseating. A good example- Poison's Every Rose (Has its Thorn). Don't look this song up if you've never heard it, some things are better left unheard. You *will* vomit, I guarantee it.
Hmmm. Maybe it's good that I missed the whole power ballad music phase. I've heard that the 80s were just bad all around.

Spud, I notice a severe absence of Optimash in your collection.

Well, first, that's not my whole collection. But yeah, I am sadly lacking in both the Optimash and the Darth Tater. Feel free to send them to me. Anyone.

They had some Optimash down here a couple of weeks ago. I'll head over to Toys R Us on the weekend and see what I can dig up.

Those potato heads are cool, but it looks like they all share the same thyroid condition. Hope they're ok.
