The Bedlam In Goliath by The Mars Volta. When these guys get it right, they get it right, and properly blow your face off. That's after they melt your brain into goo, of course.

Just got an album called Saturnalia by the Gutter Twins is a pretty decent album, but it has this awesome song called "front street" at the end.

I'm shocked and surprised at just how much I'm enjoying "The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack" by Sixx A.M.

It's nothing at all like I thought it would be after hearing "Life is Beautiful". It's an interesting look at an addict looking back on himself now that he's clean. And every once in a while Nikki Sixx pulls out some lyrical genius like "God is great and God is good but God didn't help me when he could".
"I'd like to see 1984 redubbed with this in the soundtrack."- Furrypedro.

I've got three new albums to listen to now! One - two-day-old gift from a good friend, and the other two - bought today.

1. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
What I think so far: I honestly didn't know a cd could have production this good. Just incredible. Great songwriting and lyrics too. I recommend it to anybody.

2. Cake - Fashion Nugget
I'd never heard Cake before, so this was pretty fun. I haven't picked a favorite song yet, but it's been quite a ride experiencing these guys for the first time.

3. Weezer - Blue Album
I'm impressed. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet though.

Flobots are pretty interesting. They sound a bit like Cake with the horns and vocal delivery.

Re-issue of Nick Lowes "Jesus Of Cool". I can't help but think of the incomparable Glenn Case and how great it would be to hear him sing, like, the entire album. Oodles of great songs, regardless.

Nick Lowes, yes highly recommended.
That is if you can handle falling in and out of love when listening to his records.

And I'll second the plug for these guys. I was listening to the Citizen Steely Dan box set the other day that someone here recommended a year ago. Fan-frickin-tastic. Today is cold and rainy, however, and as I write this Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is blasting away. Dig...it.

I be lovin' me some Steely Dan too.

But I'm really diggin' the latest Foo Fighters, " Echoes silence patience and grace". Let it die is probably my favorite track on the album, but the whole CD is awesome!

I guess I've been jumping around in my iPod a bit lately... here's my 5 most recent played albums:

Brendan Benson - One Mississippi
Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight
The Life and Times - Suburban Hymns
Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
Mark Lanegan - Whiskey For The Holy Ghost

That Brendan Benson album is great, I tend to play the crap out of it.

Jason Anderson's free album On the Street

I also just ordered his new album The Hopeful and the Unafraid. Dude just writes good songs. It comes with a free bonus album. Which is very good too.

Also, I'm digging this article about how indie rock = adult contemporary.
