Yeah, the music loops and level load times get real old, real fast. Aside from that, there's just something simply satisfying about shambling around and eating brains and leading a zombie horde through the streets of a 1950's futuretopia.

The easter eggs are a hoot. There's one near the end of the farm level that... well, it's damned entertaining.

Don't think I'm that far yet... I just only got past the Police station/Dance part... but it is fun eating brains... I like throwing my hand at people too... ;)

The control over the brush doesn't feel very direct, and the brush is very susceptible to sensor jitter which makes most of my gestures mess up badly. They really should have put some sort of adaptive smoothing into it.

Also, the reviews all say that the writing is thoughtful and hilarious but so far all the dialog is just annoying. I've only played it for an hour though (about 45 minutes of that hour has been filled up with annoying cut scenes).
weirdly, I did OK with the PS2 controls. I guess I just got used to screwing up and trying again all the time. But yeah, that's no excuse. Shame the wii version ain't much better.

I wouldn't say it's thoughtful or hilarious much... and yeah, it only lets you skip the cutscenes on the "new game+", which pissed me off, but I dunno, the cutscenes didn't bother me as much as most. The characters are kinda cheap and one-note (get used to hearing nothin but sexual innuendo from the lecherous bug guy)... but in the end I think the plot arc was pretty cool. The game's kinda a lot longer than it leads you to believe.
I dunno, I hope it grows on you or something. It definitely has its flaws, but I think it's still my favorite, uh, zelda game.

i got a hold of a very old Lucasarts point and click game, called The Dig. Its not too shabby. Quite an interesting sci-fi storyline, and certainly one of the most serious point and click adventures to come out of Lucasarts. The art style is a little haphazard, with a mixture of pre-rendered 3D cutscenes, sprite animation and hand animated character cutscenes. But the game itself is really solid.

Its a shame more point and click adventures aren't made anymore.

Yeah, I finished that one some years ago. Good times. I liked that you also talk to people and it's not just interacting with the environment. The soundtrack's real nice, too, and it can be bought on CD.

Having the crew interactions was good, as it provided hints on occasions, but generally helped define all the situations and environments you found. I can't quite figure out how the alien race built all those machines and stuff, they had such tiny, claw like arms.

And I have no idea what the soundtrack was like. It had some weird sound card detection thing, where it was attempting to detect certain soundcards from around 13 years ago, and not just the sound device installed on the computer. So, basically, I played without any sounds.

DosBox is pretty damned good. I use it run some old CADD programs from way back when, and it emulates VESA modes perfectly.

My brother passed on a month on Live free, so I have been playing Team Fortress 2 a bit. Not a bad little game. Quite a good pace to it, and it is very well balanced, especially in the larger games.

Annoying thing is, though, that upon connecting to Live, it asked me for my username and password again, to verify. I entered said details, and promptly had all my achievements deleted. Thanks. Thanks a lot. The Assassins Creed achievements came back upon putting Assassins Creed back in, but all the rest don't seem to want to come back. And Microsoft seem to be of little help.

Annoying.

I have TF2 (well, all of Orange Box, really) on both PC and PS3. The graphics are better on PS3 (more a function of my laptop's graphics chip not being as good as the one in the PS3) but the gameplay is a lot better on PC, simply because there's more people playing, more maps available, a hell of a lot more servers, and also PC players tend to actually use the headset and those who don't use headsets a least use text chat, which gives the game a much better feeling of camaraderie.

Also, the PS3 version doesn't have achievements for some reason. Okay, they're an integral function of both Live and Steam, but it's not like there's something prohibiting individual games from having them. Some PS3 games do have achievements, and some of PSN's scoreboard functionality could probably be used to make it easier (not that it's even necessary in the case of TF2, since EA has their own user stats server for PS3 TF2 players anyway). Achievements are such a silly little thing but they actually add a lot of replay value to the game, since early on you're getting a bunch of 'awards' and then as you get better and better the awards become a tiny trickle of actual milestones.

I've got nothing to do lately except for play video games, read books, and (hopefully) record songs, so I'm taking advantage of it while it lasts.

Right before college ended, a friend of mine sold me a used Xbox for $20. I went to the local used games dealer and picked up a few discs, and am now alternating between Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Spider-Man 2, the latter of which I'd played before on the Gamecube, but it's just so fun to swing around that I couldn't pass up owning my own copy. Both games are really good at the whole "immersion" thing. They just suck me right in, and next thing I know it's dark outside (outside? What's that?).

At that same used games store, they had a good-condition copy of Yoshi's Island for the SNES, which I'd somehow never played or owned before, so I picked it up. Of course, balancing time between three games at once is a bit like spinning plates. One might fall to the wayside as I finish the other two.

Speaking of which... before that, I was playing Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened on my PC, and was having a lot of fun with it.... till I got hopelessly stuck. No idea what I'm looking for now.

Yoshi's Island is one of those games that you don't really need to plow through because it'll always be there and there's always more to do (until you get a full 100% on everything).
