i graduate today. the 3rd. yes.

it doesn't seem like much, but maybe it is. it doesn't feel like an accomplishment as much as it feels like an end to something i've done for a long time.

i don't know.

i'm drinking. i have to be at commencement at 9:15. i want to be hungover. i want to end college this way.

that is what's happening right now for me. although, i'm also watching harvey birdman and hanging out with cats.

qotd: do you think you're good at life?

qotd: I think that I have clearly illustrated in my 35 years on this earth that I utterly and completely suck at this thing we call 'life'. I'm so terrible at it that I don't even want a 'do over'.

Congrats, Fodroy! Here's a big 'ol slap to the hungover back.

QOTD - Nah, I stink. I like living, but I'm what most would consider a loser. But at least I'm not the complete sheep that they are.

Fluffy, that turntable will be good to have around, and don't be afraid to play records on it for fear of destroying them. How many times will you play them, anyway? Plus you can just use rare/weird ones you obtain as masters to make digital copies from. I like the two sides of an album, and the little flipping over ritual.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

QotD: What good timeing to ask this question. I've been sick as hell for the last 2 days so uhh I'm failing at life atm. But don't worry I'll survive. :P

DRC: Luckily i'm already scheduled to be off work so I don't have to call in sick. So other than blowing my nose and taking all sorts of meds I'll be doing my usual day off crap. Xbox360, PS2, Computer. And since it's Saturday... watching Naruto! hehe

As we discussed a few quotidiae ago, I'm pretty sure I suck at life. Congrats on graduating; in my case, having a college degree doesn't seem to have helped me suck any less, but I'm sure I did it all wrong (like waiting 'til I was fifty-something to get it, and then getting it in a field that I really don't have the gumption to pursue as a profession).

No major commitments for the day today, just a lot of stuff that needs taking care of, and some more stuff that sounds enjoyable. TCM is showing "Moulin Rouge" today, the 1952 version with Anthony Quinn or somebody, which I will probably enjoy a lot more than the recent mess they made of it.

Congrats fodroy.
That’s a really good QOTD, am not sure if I ever heard the question phrased that way.
Let it to an English major to phrase it this way I guess.

QOTD, when I was younger I used to hate when people peg me for being Mr goody two shoes, then I became OK with it, deciding that having some confidence is better than having none at all.
Then life start getting more and more confusing and complicated, and if theirs one thing am learning right now is that, getting old sucks major balls…
Was this supposes to be a simple yes or no answers ? sorry I suck this.

I also liked Mr Garfunkel answers. Well put.

DRC: just got back from the soccer field and they had the goals locked away for grounds keeping. : ( bummers, I was looking forward to running around in this beautiful 90 degree sunshine weather.

I thought this was yesterday's topic when I replied, yesterday.

Today I am going to Maker Faire. Hopefully it'll distract me from my depression.

Congrats Fodroy! I'd be happier for you if I wasn't so jealous. I've still got another 5 years of college hell to go. What was your program?

qotd: Kind of. I'm good at different things, and if you add them up, I guess I'm kind of good at life. But if you add up the things I'm not good at, then I guess you could say I suck at life. Then if you add together those sums, then I'm just 0. Which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Congratulations Dan
BTW: you are right, as far as I recall, as soon as I sobered up after my graduation, it doesn't feel like an accomplishment as much as it feels like an end to something you've done for a long time. Which is effectively all it is. 4 or 5 years of stuff leading up to one big night on the piss wearing a funny hat - then you do different stuff.

When I graduated with my Masters degree, which was probably a much greater achievement than my Bachelors degree - I didn't even bother putting on the funny hat and getting pissed. I just got my degree mailed to me in the post, and got pissed at home wearing my normal hat.

If I ever get a PhD, I may go to the graduation ceremony. Only because you get a different type of funny hat to wear for a PhD. It's all about the hats really.

Highest I have managed is a Diploma from TAFE, so no funny hat for me. I did trip over a handbag on my way up to the stage to get my Diploma, though. And I hadn't been drinking at all.

QOTD: We'll, I haven't died yet, and that is normally a indicator of failure in most games. So once I get to the last level, beat the last boss and see how I positioned on the High Score Table, I'll let you know.

oh man Rabid Garfunkel's original version of "brother in law" just came up on random shuffle and I am so used to hearing his live punk-rock version that the original version just seems all weeny and lame.
