Re: Nur Ein III- Round One
I'm tipping that there will easily be more than five slackers this week who flake at the last minute.
I'm just going to record a fart and send it in.
(oh, of couse it won't be the one in my signature - that would be cheating. I'll record a new one inspired by the title. With a crescendo)

Man, I'm having trouble with this one. Can't write any decent lyrics, can't even come up with a decent idea. AND my crescendo skills are pathetic.
I refuse to bomb out, though.

I had to google that - because I assumed that was some Californaian way of calling me a poof or something...but it turns out that "sforzando" is "The Mongrel Bastard Pirate Orchestra SFORZANDO" from Melbourne!Ross wrote:You're right, that's more like a sforzando.Caravan Ray wrote: I'll record a new one inspired by the title. Now I know what I want to do with this one. I've got the first draft of the lyrics written. I'm not sure when the recording's gonna happen, 'cause I've got shows every night until the due date. I'll get it done though. Nur Ein!

Are people allowed to use ghostwriters? I ask, because I've got the one I *would* have submitted for round one written and can send the scratch track if you want it (and if it's allowed.) Let me know.Man, I'm having trouble with this one. Can't write any decent lyrics, can't even come up with a decent idea. AND my crescendo skills are pathetic.

I'd like to hear your song, MH, but you should probably just record it yourself and wait to post it till after all the entries have been posted.

Re: Nur Ein III- Round One
When this round is over I have to admit I'd be morbidly curious to hear sausage boy cover a Minty Handy demo.

No, take it seriously. That is a great optional challenge! The judges all have to write the lyrics and randomly assign them to the competitors!HeuristicsInc wrote:... unless ghostwriting is the non-optional challenge

Re: Nur Ein III- Round One
It would actually be a fairly interesting sidefight of it's own. Everyone records a stripped down demo, then passes to a random fellow.
But that's beside the point,
Nur Ein!

I forget, are we allowed to use 'guest' musicians? I am not a drummer, and I would really rather not use fake drums on my song(s).

My idea is turning out to be awesome, but I have neither the time nor energy to record it today. If you want a song from Reist for Nur Ein, pray for snow in Calgary, I guess.

Re: Nur Ein III- Round One
I'm not weighing in pro or con here officially, just responding on an unofficial personal level. The quality of the drums in your songs is not necessarily going to have any impact on your performance in this contest. I'm not a drummer either and we got by OK on fake drums. I don't think Frankie had "real" drums either until the final round. Don't worry about your drums, just find a way to work around the fact that you're not a drummer (write acoustic songs, use samples/loops, use live hand percussion, write a song that fits with noticeably fake/retro/drum machine-y drums, etc. etc.). I know it sounds cliche and lame, but it's all I got.Märk wrote:I forget, are we allowed to use 'guest' musicians? I am not a drummer, and I would really rather not use fake drums on my song(s).
