Help. What song am I thinking of?

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

Help. What song am I thinking of?

Post by erik »

They play this song on the "alternative" station in town, but not in heavy rotation or anything. It's got big crunchy guitars, 7th chords, a crooner-type 20-something singer, and lyrics that have the sentiment "you're awful, but I want you". The end of each verse right before the chorus makes you think that the narrator thinks one thing about this girl, then at the last second he throws in a line which has the exact opposite sentiment.

The word "puke" or "vomit" may be in the song.

I can't for the life of me remember enough about this song to google up the title.

Help me Nobie Kenoby, you're my only hope.

Gonna need a little more to work with.

When did it come on today?

Wait a sec, you're not talking about "Self Esteem" by the Offspring, are you?

I figured it out!

It's "Love Me Dead" by Ludo.

Love me cancerously
Like a salt-sore soaked in the sea.
'High-maintenance' means
You're a gluttonous queen
Narcissistic and mean.
Kill me romantically
Fill my soul with vomit
Then ask me for a piece of gum.
Bitter and dumb
You're my sugarplum.
You're awful, I love you!

CHORUS
She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
And when her edges soften
Her body is my coffin
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed

Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!

You're a faith-healer on T.V.
You're an office park without any trees
Corporate and cold
Gushing for gold
Leave me alone.
You suck so passionately
You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
finger-bangin' my heart
You call me up drunk
Does the fun ever start?
You're hideous and sexy!

REPEAT CHORUS

Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!

SOLO

Love me cancerously
Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da!
How's your new boy?
Does he know about me?
You've got the mark of the beast.
You're born of a jackal! You're beautiful!

REPEAT CHORUS

Wha' 'bout that sign on my head
That says, oh...

They have a new CD dropping June 17th. Rise and fall, rage and grace. They were at the KROQ Weenie Roast last weekend. My son went and said that they rocked. I've only heard one song so far from the new album and I like it.

By the way, Ludo is the band that I was trying to think of some time ago when I said that there is a band that sounds like Sober Irishman. It was that song, Love Me Dead that I was referring to.

Seriously. Lit is a North Texas band, and we had to endure a few more years of their shit than most people.

Lit was pretty one-trick, I bought their album.

Here's a band I just remembered yesterday that I'm gonna try and dig up a CD on--

I like that one too. I play it at my shows sometimes, once the dinner crowd clears out.

I saw Ludo open up for O.A.R. last year. They were okay, I guess. The best thing they played that night was a cover of Epic by Faith No More. But I do like hearing them on the local Modern Rock radio. It's a nice change of pace.

Hahahaha. When I first read that, it said "it clears the dinner crowd out". I thought "I'll bet".
