Welp, I'm out of Nur Ein, so there's nothing on my mind but my hat. :P
I only made it to round 4, but it was more stressful than last year. The contestants were/are awesome.

Still working hard on the album, although now I have a sore throat (I think because of the chlorine-based crap I was using to clean my bathroom yesterday, but it's possible I'm coming down with something).

qotd: ineptitude, my guitar solos wouldn't suck so bad

Hey Flufstar, that sounds pretty cool. If Caravan Ray and Depeche Mode had a baby, it would be that song. I like the moody flow. I know you didn't ask for opinions, but I'd pull the lead guitar solo back a smidg and let it echo out at the end. Just me.

Bonus points to anyone who knows that reference.

I'm not sure what it's from, but I've heard Lewis Black use it a time or two.

Indeed that sounds great. I see those Robert Palmer girls in candy striper uniforms singing back up.

The guitar solo tone is great but you try too hard. Fewer notes and more sustain would make it better match the morphine drip.

Thanks, I'll try that for my next take. If I haven't gushed enough about it, by the way, I really, really love the comping feature in Logic 8. It makes it really easy to try alternate approaches, and it also makes cycle recording useful for once.

My other disappointment is in how poorly the massive choir effect towards the end turned out. It's kind of buried in the mix. When I listen to it on its own it sounds pretty good though. (In a separate project file I recorded 12 vocal layers, and half of them I did a 30% mix with the vocal transformer to simulate sopranos. Then I panned the tracks roughly how I'd expect a real choir to stand.) I was hoping for something like an epic gospel choir.

I'm guessing that was a Lewis Black video. It's a funny bit.

I've updated the mp3 if anyone cares. For some reason my solos always sound really good when I'm practicing and such but then as soon as I hit the record button they turn to ass. Performance anxiety?
