Sounds good Jim. You even got the vocal effect down. What did you use for that, a fast flange? Or is it just a chorus?jimtyrrell wrote:I covered a Steely Dan song the other day.

I just doubled the parts, and added a little reverb.

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
Yeah, that's probably just the variation in the vocal takes, maybe.
This was the first recording in my new studio. I did it as a test, and there's still a lot to do in there. Those aren't miked drums, of course. But it's a start.

Damn, I wish I lived near you. Your studio is awesome. It looks like a bad ass mini club from the pics you posted. Taco Tuesdays, plus the Jim Tyrrell band. I'd be SO there.

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
I think I posted one or two in a Daily Roll Call thread a while back. I'll take some new ones, 'cause I actually have some equipment in there now. But I'll post 'em in a thread that's, well, not this one.
Back on topic: someone drop a new song on us! (Bonus points if it mentions tacos.)

What started with the Nur Ein has evolved into more as the judges of Nur Ein III have come together and formed Judgeblood.

That's potent. I would have given it a vote if it was entered in the fight. The stereo separation on those sounds in the beginning was kinda distracting on headphones, though; better when I turned it down a bit.

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
Really good song! I could learn a lot from this mix. The panning, instrument seperation and the wide panning of the chorus vox on the final chorus to build it up for the conclusion. Very cool production. Was that Glenny on the solo? Who ever it was, it's fantastic!Niveous wrote:What started with the Nur Ein has evolved into more as the judges of Nur Ein III have come together and formed Judgeblood.

I think my In the Valley art that didn't get used, fits this song perfectly. You're welcome to it if you need a MySpace pic or whatever.

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
Sadly not everyone is on the track (at least not yet). Niveous wrote the lyrics. Adam/Puce was the maestro and wrote the music, mixed the song, did the lead vocals/bass/drums/etc. I recorded the guitars and the backup vocals. (I'm not positive but I think Adam may have also done some of the guitars and backup vocals in there, too.)

DAMN! Judgeblood rules! Great freaking song! I'm wildly impressed how well your voices work together. That guitar solo is FANTASTIC! It's great to hear Niv's lyrics fully realized. It gives me a thought:
Niv, you should write your concept album, unrestricted by February, and have several bands tackle a song each. All push the story forward, but are all unified by the lyrics. If you write it, there will be takers. (But don't do it in February, Zinkline needs a 3rd album).

Thanks, Lunk. I could figure out much of who did what, but wondered about some other elements. Again, great work.
