Well, then wait until you've had your morning coffee and try to absorb it all. I've never seen you spearhead a competition here and this could be your maiden voyage.

Roymond - maybe it's just my browser or monitor, but that light-orange type on a white background is pretty tough to read. I'd suggest going for something a bit more contrast-y.

I guess I really need a King Arthur website, so maybe this can be my excuse to start working on one and get some feedback...

How about making one song new, one old, and one a cover of another songfight song? That way you can write a new song, it will motivate you to rework an old one, and you can have fun with someone else's song. That way, it relieves a little of the pressure of having to write 3 new songs, which was part of BLT's original fun intention.

That sounds cool. We have another idea for the list.

OK, so here is the idea list thus far:
#1. From Erik and Andrew: 3 new song should be made for this game. Maybe can make where you can use 3 old songs if you like, but each new song is worth extra bonus points. IE: 2 new songs and 1 old song. Bonus points on the 2 new songs.

#2. From Pregerz: Maybe have the voting be like the grammys. each team could win but in diff catagories. best vid, best website, best production, etc....

#3. From Pregerz: What about make it an A&R contest? Have 3 or so teams of A&R people. Bands submit songs to them. they pick two bands and develop them.

#4. From project-D - One new song, one old song and one SF member cover.

edit: Project-D's idea gave me a new thought.

#5. One of the 3 songs has to be a cover by any band.

No.......no it's not.

By the way, every time I see your site name, Radnoise, I read it as Radionoise.

1. Radionoise > Radnoise

2. So what's going on BLT? Is it gonna be Demofight? Press Kit fight? Websitefight? Labelwars?

Well, my original idea:
#1. A promo package with a 3 song demo.

#2. A voting system that rates around 10 different parts of each.
2a. Package design
2b. Album cover design
2c. Lyrics
2d. Song 1
2e. Song 2
2f. Song 3
2g. ?
2h. ?
2i. ?
2j. ?

#3. A record company panel for voting, OR an open voting by anyone that wants to vote. The open voting is less of a burden on people.

That's pretty much the idea. Now to work on the nuts and bolts.

So essentially...

The sidefight is a Demo War. Each band puts together a 3 song demo including new material. The demo must include a photo, a band logo, press bio and an album cover (for the album that the 3 songs are supposedly from).

A group of people will be the Record Company (the jury) and they rate the demo packages on several criteria: band photo, band logo, album cover, song lyrics, press bio, and the 3 songs. Whoever does best overall wins.

Is that the idea?

That sums it up beautifully, Niv.
Now, how to get the ball rolling. I'm usually a pretty good at getting things off the ground. But I'm not sure how to host it. IE: hosting the music, setting it up to look like a CD jewel box, etc.

You have the gift of organization, Niv. I was losing my mind just trying to figure what the hell was happening here. This is starting to sound like a pretty solid sidefight. I'm in (assuming this doesn't begin on August 19th).

Will there be any starting seed for the 3 songs, like titles, or a list of titles to choose from or something?

Lunk, I know that's how things normally run here, but I was hoping to not give a title to write to, but rather an image or video clip. IE: A picture/clip will be posted for each song, and everyone has to write about it.
And/or, a challenge for each song.

song one challenge - Can't have any instruments or voices, nor any audible sounds whatsoever.
I think more than just Frankie would bitch about that challenge, lol.

Okay now you're losing me. You're suggesting:

A Demo War sidefight in which you will post 3 images. Those three images are to inspire three different songs. Each of the songs also must fulfill a non-optional challenge. After those 3 songs are done, they are to be made into a demo package...

A bit much, no?

Just throwing it out there. This is the think tank. But yes, a bit much, so probably not a good idea.
