I'm lame.

Post by Aardwolves »

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I haven't actually gotten around to entering any songs yet, but I figure it might prompt me to actually finish something. Yay!

I think the biggest reason I've put off entering forever is that everything I do is ridiculously lo-fi - me playing random instruments and yodeling* into my laptop. I'm kind of production-illiterate compared to all the techo-wizzes here. :S

Also, there don't seem to be a lot of other girls on here. Weird.

I'll try not to suck, I promise!

*not really, thank god.

What a sale! You had us at yodeling... and that's about where you lost us too.

I KEED I KEED, you can't be any worse than...

OK OK OK...I'm done

Welcome to Songfight and I hope my attempts to scare another girl off were unsuccessful.

Man, if I could yodel... well I think I would hate myself. ;)

Thanks for the welcome! You won't scare me off that easily. :P

Female voices are always welcome. It's definatly a rarity in SF.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style. :D

There's Bjam, Rachael Layne, Anti-M and others, not necessarily entering as solo or fronting acts. So join the party. Also, like myself, lots of people drop out for months at a time, then re-enter orbit once life settles down.

And, as has been mentioned, low-fi is very welcome. We often focus too much on production (vs songwriting) but that's just the nature of the beast. But you'll get lots of help and opinions, if you ask.

Welcome!

Lo-fi songs can win, but they have to be remarkable. That one's by a girl, no less.

Cassette tapes! I've got a few of those kicking around somewhere. ;) And I also didn't realise that lo-fi was welcome, let alone wanted. That one jb mentioned that won is pretty impressive - I'll try my darndest not to be completely repulsive, okay?

Thanks for the welcome everyone! :D

I've always loved LML's "two" songs. I wish she'd come back and do some more.

So ... you play the saw, eh? That's awesome. My uncle from ontario plays the saw too - it can be really beautiful if done right.

We have very few women at Songfight. How odd is it that two of them play the saw? Anti-M is a great saw player as can be heard on x-tokyo-river-god's "Don't Think I Don't Miss You" as well as her own "Other Places That I've Lived".

Rumors of my greatness are vastly overstated. ( ;

Also, welcome to Songfight! Do not sabotage your presence with premature apologies! Looking forward to hearing your stuff!

That is a strange coincidence. I actually only know one other saw player IRL, so it warms my steely heart to know of another one. :D I will definately check out those tracks when I'm not running late for work. Thanks, guys and gal!
