Re: Deep Cuts from the SongFight! Archive
I've posted this in a couple other threads over the last several months, but mine is Brad Sucks' Bad Attraction.
http://www.songfight.org/music/bad_attr ... action.mp3
It remains my favorite SF song of all time.

From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style.

That song won the Bad Attraction fight. Wouldn't that disqualify it from being a "deep cut"?

I think people should interpret it however they like. Bonus points for obscurity, but all players welcome.
EDIT: I know you're joking, but for folks who don't get it, I meant "Bonus points for linking to obscure songs, versus winning songs by famous Internet superstars".

Why does he get bonus points? Although I have to admit I dig his stuff, especially what that he did with Hoblit e.g. "Need Stilts".

2003 Swapping Coverfight
For the record, obscurity hated it. Hoblit probably did too, but he sometimes has to see me in person, so he withheld serious criticism.

Yes - 8LO did some awesome stuff. I was going to pick this one as my choice deep cut:Lunkhead wrote:How about a thread dedicated just to pointing out gems buried in the SongFight! archives? I've been posting these in the "What are you listening to now?" thread, but I think it'd be fun to have a dedicated space for them.
Anyway, I was just enjoying "Snow Fort" by Eight Legged Oedipus. It's got a good beat, melody, and lyric(s?).
Dogboy Hits The Skids by Eight Legged Oedipus
but it won the fight - so I guess it doesn't count. Still one of my all-time SF! favourites though
So, instead - for a deep cut, I'll go for one of the collabs I did with 8LO:
Turn The Power On by Vapour Can Ideas
Another favourite deep cut is:
Big Disco by Rocket Thunder
I'm not sure, but I think Phil Redmon may have had something to do with this? Can anyone confirm that?
edit
=======
ooh - just thought of another great one from the way-back machine:

melvin wrote:Location Location Location's Leaf Blower remains one of my very favourite SF songs of all time. Who's in that band? I know it involves some well-known fighter(s), but I'm not sure who.
EDIT: Heh, having just re-listened to this track for the first time since NE3, I am now willing to bet that's Ken on lead vox. Right?
Yeah - that is a great one - from a particularly good fight
Gert was the winner - but the 2 "Leafblowers" that have always stuck in my mind are great songs by Johnny Cashpoint, and this one which I think was one of Luke Henley's finest moments (damn - whatever happened to the Weasleslayer?)

He had something to do with it. You can also find another Rocket Thunder song on his website, Tartpop. http://www.tartpop.com/2007/03/23/four- ... basements/Caravan Ray wrote:Another favourite deep cut is:

I just can't get enough of this SuperDragon X track.
The lyrics are just phenomenal.
Indolent dreaming wistfulness.

Prosthetic Johnson's Fool In The Middle, though a winner, I think falls into deep cut territory as it was a while back and there's been no entries since. Cute.

Neither got much love in the votes or on the boards at the time, but I have always liked the Lunkhead tracks More Than Soup and Dirty Chucks.

Wow, thanks. I'm more proud of Dirty Chucks, as I feel like the lyrics are a lot better in that one. I managed to incorporate nearly half the squares from "Hipster Bingo" into the lyrics. Anyway, thanks for the nod.

Man, this is a powerfully awesome collaboration:
"House of Hodgman" by Wes Davis and the DesMLs
Wes Davis, Deshead, and LML, I believe. Great song, great performances, great production, in my opinion. I miss all these folks.

Ooh, this one-off works up to something really good:
"Everybody Now" by Vae Sitrum
I can't quite figure out who it could be, and no one came forth to claim the song in the review thread. Oh well...
Here's another one-off I like. This guy sounds almost like Josh Woodward at times but I'm pretty sure it's not him. I have no idea who it really is, though.

Check out "Seth"'s entry for the same fight - that's the same guy. How he managed to make two such cool songs in the same week is beyond me.
