Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions: Scam?

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

Would telling your side of the story weaken your case? Seems to me he's gone on record as saying he ain't talking.

no, it would not weaken my case. it's a clear cut case of a violated contract and i am entitled to a refund.

he is not talking because he hopes i will simply give up and let them keep the money. otherwise, he would not have been instructing his employees to have me keep calling and emailing for the last 4 months while choosing to not respond to those calls or emails.

it has only been in the last 2 days that he has taken a vow of silence, or at least let it be known that it's his intention to do so. not coincidentally, this vow of silence has come shortly after i've explained the details of my case to his employees who were previously unaware of why i had been calling.

Keep it up guys... Google has us in position number 2 now.

I've spent some time researching this today.

My conclusion is that he isn't a scam as much as he's a rip off. I've seen other services he's offered and its laughable. While I'm sure they do what they say they will, their services are not worth the price by far. Borderline scam but not exactly outlandish enough to be an outright scam. Bryan Farrish is not a scam, just a shrewd business partner.

Now why on earth would anyone think Bryan Farrish is a scammer? Is it because Bryan Farrish is a scammer? Just because Bryan Farrish the scammer doesn’t return phone calls, and seems to be ducking anyone trying to reach him (unless you want to give Bryan Farrish the scammer some money, in which he’d probably promptly call you), doesn’t mean that by default Bryan Farrish is a scammer. I’m really not sure why anyone would think that Bryan Farrish is a scammer. Just because Bryan Farrish looks like a scammer, just because Bryan Farrish acts like a scammer, doesn’t necessarily mean that Bryan Farrish is a scammer. Maybe someone else is trying to smear his name and make Bryan Farrish look like a scammer, even though Bryan Farrish might not be a scammer. That could happen without his knowledge, and then the world might think Bryan Farrish is a scammer even though the case may in fact not be true that Bryan Farrish is a scammer. So before we all conclude that Bryan Farrish is a scammer, we should maybe let Bryan Farrish tell us himself whether Bryan Farrish is a scammer.

Let’s not jump to any baseless conclusions here.

extension "10" is the direct line to bryan if you call 310 998 8305.

he answered, i said who i was and why i was calling, and he hung up.

very professional.

i have not received an explanation as to why he had not returned my calls or emails for the last 4 months.

i was not surprised that he hung up, but fully expect resolution to my dispute.

Wait... you get a hold of him, he hangs up on you immediately and yet you still expect that your dispute will be resolved? Am I understanding this correctly? He hung up on you to have more time to jump right on it?

(unless I'm not catching sarcasm, if thats the case then consider me an idiot)

there is no sarcasm.

this thread asked if his company is reputable, so i've been posting my experience in response to the question. as i mentioned, he responded to much more ambiguous claims on this thread and i expect that at some point he'll feel the need to address my specific issue.

he is doing what several businesses have done to musicians, which is take the money and run in hopes that the musician can't maintain the chase. i will not stop contacting his office until i have received a refund, but my posts are heads-up to anyone considering using his services.

Personally I think he's doing a FANTASTIC job, screwing YOU. I admire your faith in the chase but it seems to me that unless you are going to hire a lawyer, he has no incentive to be bothered by your paltry complaint. (Not that *I* feel your complaint is paltry, heck, I don't even know what it is. I'm just saying that he must feel that way.)

yo project D, maybe it's time to remove the question from the title and plainly state what we all know to be true.

his incentive is the reputation of his company.

let's say one of his emails sparks an interest. that person googles "bryan farrish." the third item that pops up is "bryan farrish scam" and this thread is second in that search.

not exactly a sales pitch.

as stated, my complaint is a violated contract for which i'm entitled a refund.

Point taken. And last I checked, this thread was in fact in second position on a google search of: Bryan Farrish scam

The first position belonged to CDBaby I think...and you were also in that thread too.

from
Radio Airplay 101 - Independent Promoter Checklist, Part 2 of 2
by Bryan Farrish

CONTACTABILITY: This is probably going to be the one thing that you end up really liking or disliking about the way your indie operates. Some indies are always there when you call, others are never there. The ones who never answer will invariably tell you, "I spend all my time on the phone talking with the stations... Isn't that what you want me to do with your project?" Good try.

What these non-contactable indies are actually doing is spending "some" time on the phone with "some" stations, and spending a lot more time dining at restaurants and seeing friends. And if you thought it was difficult reaching them before you hire them, just wait until AFTER they get your money. We see this again and again and again. If you think about it, an indie's sole job is to talk on the phone. Why then, if they were there by the phone, would they not pick up when you call (you are the one who is paying them.) What if a station calls?

And that is exactly it: They are NOT there when a station calls... because they REALLY DON'T spend that much time talking to stations on the phone. They only want you to think that they do. And worse, if they say they give clients (and potential clients) a different phone number to call than the one they give the stations, then you can guarantee that you (the paying client) will never get that person on the phone when you need them (or much less, to be able to spend any time learning from them.)

A true indie promoter is a non-stop call center, which gives TOP priority to incoming calls. They should have several people available to answer calls; if everyone is still on the phone when the phone rings, someone should HANG UP and answer that incoming call. Remember, incoming calls are top priority... it could be a station, and stations normally only call when they have good news.

He does not care about the reputation of his company.

Seriously. Obviously us telling everyone that Bryan Farrish is a scammer does not hurt his business much. If it did he would change the name to "BF Radio Promo" or something and you'd be back at square one.

I am sorry but you are never going to get back the money he scammed you for. Neither is anyone else who falls for Bryan Farrish's scams.

The best you can do is file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and keep warning other people (like you're doing here) that Bryan Farrish is a scammer. And move on.

Hey Jack, I changed the title. I reckon a legitimate business may have an owner who's a dick, may see your side of the dispute as crap, and may tell you to take your complaint and stick it, but he/she will at least talk to you. Stonewalling for four months and then hanging up on you makes me think not only are you hiding something, but you won't even have the decency to at least bullshit your way through it. All I thought I was doing was asking a simple question...

BTW, Jack, that was me who changed the title from "Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions" to "Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions: Service or Scam?". My feeling was that we do NOT have all the facts (one rarely does), and that the open title would encourage people to actually read the thread, rather than assuming that we were just a bunch of assholes who had already made up their minds. Thinking people prefer to read the discussion and then make up their own mind.
