He says you're older
than he thought you were
Stay for a while in the calico alley
He wants to wait until
you're older than you are
Stay for a while
Stay for a while
Stay
She says you're done with
what she thought you did
Stay for a while and don't try to be normal
She wants to eat something
growing on a tree
Stay for a while
Stay for a while

Re: Calico Alley
If that's the face I know
I wouldn't get too close
He thinks his hide's a fetch
His flashy overcoat
Obscures his broken bones
But that's not hard to catch
---Chorus---
It's just another drab man
Who thinks he's a black sheep
He'll take his 15 minutes and
He'll be run out of calico alley
It's just another masked man
Who thinks his pain makes him real
Well he can take it wants to
But it's just his delusion he feels
---Chorus---
He Has Nowhere To Go
Unless this street's his home
And it should rain tonight
But he can't be alone
His burning paws draw scars upon the stone
He lays beneath the light
-Chorus-
I wouldn't get too close

Dollar Bill & the Inkpoints - "Calico Alley"
j$ - reggae guitar, bass, vox
HInc - synths, drums, ambient guitar, spoken word vox
I have seen the ghosts of Calico Alley
Thought I must be sleeping, dreaming
When those shadows started screaming
Every one with a sad tale to tell
I have talked with ghosts in Calico Alley
Told me life was only fleeting
But it sure still takes some beating
Baby I have learnt my lesson well
[chorus:]
I will never go back to Calico Alley
‘Til my whole life is behind me
I will never go back there again
Who will cry for ghosts of Calico Alley?
Vengeful, craving resolution
So much anger and confusion
Their salvation’s always out of reach
I have seen the ghosts of Calico Alley
They don’t scare me any longer
What disgusts me makes me stronger
They are lost and that’s just fine by me
[chorus]
(spoken) Don’t waste time on ghosts from Calico Alley
Don’t look back while we’re still breathing
They're too much like us, it's time we’re leaving!
There but by the grace of God go I
[chorus]

calico alley by aardwolves (unsubmitted)
it's a pretty crazy place, she said, they got streets named after cats
we rallied in calico alley on nights i'd best forget
in many ways, she was still a child
prone to excess and running wild
took communion under steeples of neon and glass
she pawned her whole life just to get some quick cash
she said, it wasn't planned but the scene seduced me
now i wanna weep for danny bonaduce
i just don't know what i'm gonna do
can't live, can't escape, can't get over you
i wish i knew
she called less often and the seasons changed
my life went on, but it wasn't the same
it was her choice, she deserved no pity
she lost herself to ybor city
she said, it wasn't planned but the scene seduced me
it's too late now to turn over a new leaf
gotta work at the diner just to pay for the pills
gotta sell my soul for a few cheap thrills
i'm like a craig finn lyric, she said
high on life and almost dead
i'm nothing but an allegory
all bad example
but a pretty good story

Calico Alley
The urban pioneers are moving across the land
The urban pioneers are buying up all they can
All they can
Now there’s a Lewis and Clark living together on every block
Children don’t accept any blankets, or trinkets, or schlock
Cuz we’re the Indians now
Lower income urban Indians now
Hard workin’, blue collar low class Indians now
The hipster yuppie kids are looking for “cool” places to live
With a certain sense of authentic grit to brag about at the gym
At the gym
Now there’s a Tom dickin’ Harry in every other home
And an endless line are still applying for the loans to take our homes
Cuz we’re the Indians now
Lower income urban Indians now
Hard workin’, blue collar low class Indians now
You knew this bridge was coming up
You have to cross it now or jump
I know its cliché, but it’s also a plan
We need to make a stand
Cuz we’re the Indians now
Lower income urban Indians now
Hard workin’, blue class low collar Indians now
I have a feeling that one rich body
Dumped face-down and naked in calico alley
Would bring this gentrification to an end
