Exactly. That's always been my philosophy.fluffy wrote:Smileys are for the weak and feeble-minded who can't actually read or communicate using words.

Booty Chesterfield Trio: Just like seeing the White Stripes only cheaper and with crappy songs and no Meg.

Well the songs are good, but Booty clearly has no sense of pitch.

QOTD: (from the blog of Rozz Rezabek) - "went to see RABID GARFUNKEL play this weekend as part of SONGFIGHT 2008...some sort of twenty band traveling Myspace tour..he kind of does this cro-mag caveman rock with funny lyrics that I found myself struggling to decipher over the din..."

Still working on it, Hoblit, but in the meanwhile, you can enjoy this oldie but goodie from MC Frontalot:
MC Frontalot wrote:okay if I could have gotten this shit rocking at comp USA free internet terminal fifty people would have come by to find out about songfight and it would have been like a songfight booth at comdex or something, I mean you just can't ignore this stuff. You can run holding your ears, but you can't pretend it's not there. I have total understanding of why frankie hates you people. It's all there, the disregard for things like pleasing vocal tone, craftsmanship (I mean except the lyric, that's always like a goddamn novella), the all+kitchen sink approach to the texture of the recordings. When you guys started I was sure you were shooting for irritating-superwacky but it's like a fucking sledge hammer, week after week, fucking octothorpe, you guys are just fucking LIKE THAT. IT'S YOU!! YOU PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY OCTOTHORPE. I'm with Patrick Clayton, you guys rule. This and every song.

What about this old one of mine?
You know how if you don't brush your teeth for a while your gums get kind of sore, but it's in a way that it feels good to keep poking at them? This is because you really should brush your teeth. In the same way, you should listen to Octothorpe.

Re: Sept 16, 2008
I still don't see what's wrong with Line6.
Here we have a guy who is using a cable, and clearly needs an interface.
Whatever. I don't like to discuss gear for this exact reason.
In the mean time, I like Booty Chesterfield Trio. I vote for it every time it's in a fight (ever since multi-voting, of course, but hey, I even voted for you guys in the Just to Be Difficult fight, when I only had one).
I've just thought to myself that the success of the band might be boosted even further if the singer could produce pitches in the same key as the other instruments. If you're going to get upset at me for sharing these observations and want me to stop, then stop posting your music on the internet.
Unless you're pissed that I recommended a hunk of gear someone might actually be able to afford. I don't give a fuck about gear so you come up with an alternative.

Re: Sept 16, 2008
Booty is yellcore. How can you consider pitch in the absence of singing?

Re: Sept 16, 2008
Err, no.
Hold on and listen to some Booty for a second.
Rage Against the Machine doesn't have singing. There's rhythmic yelling within a small register, and pitch doesn't really fit directly into the musical equation.
Booty Chesterfield Trio features (at least what comes across as) poor attempts at singing. The pitch varies just like singing, but the pitches aren't in the same key as the music.

Re: Sept 16, 2008
You are applying your preconceived, culturally-biased notions of "pitch" and "singing" to that which is outside of your noösphere. You are attempting to define Amazon sociopolitical structures in terms of a Eurocentric patriarchy. You are ascribing the behavior of humans to feral creatures. In order to understand the truth you must first unlearn the lies which you have been taught your whole life.

Re: Sept 16, 2008
Booty here, you know the one with terrible singing abilities...hehehe. Lord of oats, could you do me a favor a take a listen to the 4 finished tunes we posted from our new album (on our myspace page) and let me know what you think. A solid critique would be appreciated since we actually took months to practice and record those tracks. I gotta tell you whenever Blue and I get together to write and record these songs for songfight we literally spend about one hour recording and mixing the whole thing. The vocals are usually one takers and to be honest half the time i can't remember (or read my writing) the words. It has turned into some what of a schtick. But I do know I have willie nelson range and allota times I trust try to reach down and let it all out, just like Blind Willie Mctell would do. Rocks on. I love songfight ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
BTW, we're thinking about doing a Crystal Gayle arrangement next week!
