DRC: Hey everyone. I have survived a team meeting with barely a scratch. Woo-hoo!

Elsewhere in my world, I'm having a clash of the muses. I've been writing Septemberian daily and that's been very good. But I also have my wrestling writing game and it needs my time but the muse is otherwise occupied. And part of me really wants to do some more music (My next songfight will be #50) but that hasn't been happening either. Hmmm...Must figure out how to balance my muses.

QotD: This was covered in part a year ago. But I think it goes with my previous two questions from this week.

Do you have a band logo? If so what is it? And if not, why not?

QoTD: Mine is embedded in my mp3s (since 2006 I think). It needs to be updated (from SF Live Seattle)

Niv, are you reading the Indie Band Survival Guide? They talk about a lot of the same stuff in there. It's a good book. For some years I've been considering doing what Brad Sucks did and have a logo contest, but now I see that it's mentioned in the book so now everybody will be doing it :)

Our name is our logo. Or our logo is our name.
We didn't want to have to change to a glyph.

DRC: Today is my anniversary--3 years with the misses. Going to go out to eat tonight, and this weekend we're going on a vacation to NYC as a 2-day-late present for us both. Looking forward to getting back to the city, it's been 3 and a half years since I've been there last.

QotD: No. When I was with Glennwood, we had a website and Matt, the drummer, made a nice looking artsy version of our name, but that's about the best I can come up with.

Reason? Cause I barely can put a freakin song together for SongFight! -- Where in the world am I gonna get the time to put a logo together?

Yeah, but now it's in print (August 5, 2008), and we're in it! (SongFight!)

Do logos really help a band? I can think of maybe like 12 bands that I like that have a logo/typography.

QotD: I used to have a little icon-y thing that's just my arty signature of my initials. But I don't know where that file is anymore.

So. Um, who wants to tell me some awesome non-21/19 and over music venues in Boston? Everything seems to be over 19/21 or shitty. Are there any good/cheap music places here? There must be, but I'm at a freaking pharmacy school and everyone gives me a strange look when I ask them about anything that's not to do with chemistry or biology :( I'm enjoying everything about college, but none of the friends I've made want to go to music events, which means I can't just go and explore with people. They just want to sit in and do homework. This is not what I had envisioned college to be... :?

I've been writing lots of SF songs though! I just have no recording set up yet... Sadness.

qotd: No, because I don't have a band.

I could make a logo for myself, but that just sounds arrogant.

right, it's been a pdf for a long time, but now it's a real book with binding and such.

Bjam, ya want me to ask my brother in law? He lived in JP/Roxbury for some years although now he's in Bolivia.
Idiot Kings might have some info if you PM him; he plays out sometimes.
Also, my friend Nick now lives up in Lynn, I can ask him - he plays music and writes columns on comedy stuff for the Boston Globe.

The Funeral Dazies

Our original one now in use (Trying to get creator to redo it though, this is the only copy and its not hi-res)
Image

Our newer one NOT in use because it sort of belonged to an ex-guitarist, but its pretty cool anyways

Hobz, you have the coolest conceptual band and logos. It's called a conceptual band, right? Whatever it's called, I prefer to be entertained whenever possible.

If by 'conceptual' you mean 'gimmick' then yeah! (and thanks!)
