DRC: Hey everyone. I'm super disheveled today. I slept through my alram clock and the day has been spent playing catch up. But hopefully it's coming together well and will be good start to the 3-Day weekend. Plus, since yesterday was my rock-less day, today is full of loud rock music, and I feel very happy. I'm currently rocking out, playing The Candy Spooky Theater. I bet anyone in earshot is recoiling in horror.

QotD: Where do you find new music?

Do you mostly go off of suggestions from friends? Songfight? Music television channels? Newspapers? Blogs? Myspace? Facebook? Somesongs?

QOTD: Usually a friend will tell me about a new band I should check out. But the best new music I've found has been from my digital cable radio, Music Choice. They have a number of alternative and experimental channels. The one I listen to most is simply called, adult alternative. I have speakers from my audio system in the backyard where I spend a lot of my free time, BBQs, jacuzzi, poker, etc. If I hear something new that I like, I look at the bands name on the TV and write it down. Then the next morning when I'm sober, I get on the introwebz and go through my list. It's like Christmas in June. :P

Pandora is a good place to find new music. That's probably one of the biggest, but there's also SF people.

qotd: Usually SF recommendations, as I don't listen to music hardly ever, but occasionally I hear cool stuff on random shoutcast channels.
Irwin: I'd sell my soul to jesus to program drums like signboy.

I find out from Marcus Kellis, since he only listens to good music, and I already know when Octothorpe makes new music.

Good music strikes without warning, usually when I'm not looking or expecting it.
But also when Glenn Case suggests something.
Even so, I remain largely ignorant of the current scene.

Me too, I usually bump into it.

Songfighters:Glenn got me into Ellis Paul, (While I never got into Liam Lynch, I have gotten to know the name through my cartoon fetish) Brick Pig got me into Gillian Welch, and somebody else (I wanna say Jack Shite) has gotten me into Nina Nastasia.

Dre got me into Murder By Death & Band of Horses although I haven't gone head over heals with that, but I do have a Band of Horses Pandora station. (and I later learned that Against Me! toured with them, that would have been a fantastic show to have attended)

Lately this has been my method of choice though. Its even gotten me into a couple of bands I missed like The Artic Monkeys and Jet. It helped me find out about an Against Me! live release I didn't previously know about as well as keeping me up with current Punk trends. (Alkaline Trio, Bouncing Souls new stuff etc...)

A lot of times guys in the local scene will turn me onto something simply by saying that 'this band sounds like...' and I"ll start looking into whatever band it was they were saying they sounded like.

I wonder who it was then. I think it was you who mentioned Nickle Creek now that I think about it.

Somebody here got me into Nina and I just love her.

I don't bother with new music. I only listen to Celine Dion, Nickelback, and Loverboy.

I love your sig quote so much that I actually think about it during the day. I want to twist it into a new quote, but everything I come up with doesn't compare, so I have a funny feeling you may just have the perfect quote.
But mark my words, one of these days I will twist that quote.

By the way, so help me gawd, if you are not truly into these three bands and I find out you're mocking the Lover Boy, I'll cut off an elephants cock and ass rape you until you say Lover Boy Rules!
.....don't fuck with me, I've done it before. Image
