December 6 & 7

Post by Niveous »

Hey everyone!

Saturday's question works hard for his living:
if you had to describe yourself with an album cover, which would you be?

Sunday's question is bonny and blithe, and good and gay:
if you had to join a tribute band, whose catalog of music would you want to play?
"I'd like to see 1984 redubbed with this in the soundtrack."- Furrypedro.

Gots to dig the Louis Wain cat... gots to dig Louis Wain in general, heh.

Sunday:
... Tough one. Dead Kennedys is my knee-jerk response... yeah, DK for the win. (And thank The Maker there's no recordings of me & Albatross' DK karaoke session, heh.)

Saturday's question - Q: Are we not men? A: We are DEVO!

Sunday's question - Camper Van Beethoven. (If I had the chops, that is)

Saturday's QotD:

As for Sunday - I'd love to be in a Police cover band, but my talent level would probably relegate me to a Ramones tribute act.

You know what? I like the album cover I did so much, that I think I want to re-do it with perfection on the detail using all of the Magritte methods of subject matter, shadows and light. I just kind of quickly put that one together and every time I looked at it, new ideas hit me, so I made changes, like 5 times. He is one of my favorite surrealists and he both inspires and speaks to me in volumes. So maybe I should honor his name somehow. I just kind of made the album title "guitar head" because it's a guitar head and so am I, plus I like guitars and head and it's where my head is always at....if any of that makes sense.

....maybe I should name the album, "this is not a Magritte".
edit: or "ceci n'est pas un Magritte"

I must say I seriously considered putting up H.R. Giger's Blondie cover, but that may have been misinterpreted.

Here.

Saturday: Not sure. Maybe The butcher cover.

Sunday: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - I'd do the Neil Young part. Damn! That would actually be really fun.

Also, I think I'd really dig being in a Queens Of The Stone Age tribute band. I mean, if there was someone else's tunes I had to regularly bang out, those riffs would be the perfect blend of chug & smug.

If I was going to be in a tribute band, I'd say Brian Eno would be my choice. Tho not really the ambient stuff because it's hard to cover ambient songs :)

Album covers? Harder one.

Here is a great link to famous album covers and cool info to go with them. You'll get lost in it for a while.

Yeah, the embedded music player doesn't help either, so click it off. But pretty cool once it does load. Had an interesting bit about your Blondie cover that you didn't use.
