Diggin' Out

Diggin' Out
Ford's Theater Disaster

We're diggin' out our fond desires
The dreams we had, baby, we had them fired
We're empty shells, shit-eating grins
We buried love, yeah, we shut it in

I have a spade
To dig you, babe
I have a spade

I'm diggin' out this parking lot
These spaces are all vacant; my will is not
You're drivin' out of your lot in life
A full tank an' a cup of coffee: you're gone

I have a spade
To dig you, babe
I have a spade

I'm diggin' out of this sorrow mound
I am a flower, baby, this is my ground
You plant the seed, you have to wait
I sprout in the springtime, I blossom late

I have a spade
To dig you, babe
I have a spade

I don't know if I'm happy with them and they might change but these are pretty much it.

I was diggin out the driveway and the sidewalk
Thought I heard your voice, thought I heard you talk
I turned around with a smile
But you weren't there
So I kept on a'shovelin
Thought I heard you mumblin
Looked over to an empty space
Looked down and I saw your face

I would've wrote you if you wrote me back
To tell you I still love you, if you love me back
But I got nothin just huffin and puffin
From diggin your image out of the snow
The least you could've done was say hello

I dropped to my knees
Didn't really care about that cold, cold freeze
Those leaves are the same color as your eyes
Same crooked tooth, what a disguise
Squirrel tracks really bring out the curls in your hair
I really want to believe you're there
But I can't even hear your voice anymore
I wrote are you really here in the powder
Hopin you would come back louder
Sayin you still wanna be mine
But any message would be fine

I would've wrote you if you wrote me back
To tell you I still love you, if you love me back
But I got nothin just huffin and puffin
From diggin your image out of the snow
The least you could've done was say hello

Well, I lay my head down on your block of ice
If this were really you, it sure would be nice

Diggin' Out
The Tedward Nixon Experience

When the party was over
We went down to the beach
Drank a few more beers
And my friend began to speak
After he spilled his sorrows
And a few more hours had passed
Jumped back in the car
And he gave it too much gas

It sank into the sand
The wheels continued to spin
He said, "No use diggin' out-
The tide is comin' in"

He might have lost his freedom that day
The freedom to get out and roam
But we all couldn't help but laugh
As the ocean...
As the ocean...
As the ocean swallowed it whole

barfknecht - diggin' out

killing joke was a laughing stock
with my backward hands in a puppet sock
got me working double shifts in the harpy pen
counting down the milliseconds 'til the quantum end

i'm drawing blueprint escape plans
before they snap the seven seals and my will to live
you know there's no sense giving into sentences
baby, diggin' out of here is imperative

lovely lynching up on gallows hill
like the day before and forever still
see the high noon typhoon eat up all the sky soon
just another day in the waiting room
dude's had just about enough of dis
well, i'm diggin' out into eternal bliss
and the only certainty i guarantee, my friend
is living freely don't come easy to the dead and damned

ain't no gentle persuasion
like all the lucky motherfuckers that the lord forgives
it's now or never honey, take your pick
'cause you're diggin' out of here if you choose to live

hey there dear hybrid, who is who?
i see you're neither one nor two
remember me, my screaming trees
i'll be your cherished memory

Diggin' Out by Jan Krüger

Eyes open, no light
It's darker than night
How did I get here
My mind is not clear [still counting sheep]

No diggin' out
No one's about
And no one can hear me shout
Walls closing in
I cannot win
And tomorrow won't begin
It won't begin

Buried in the ground
My heartbeat, no other sound
Wood all around me [in coffin shape]
Airtight completely [I can't escape]

No diggin' out
No one's about
And no one can hear me shout
Walls closing in
I cannot win
And tomorrow won't begin
It won't begin

Howl Down The Chimney - Diggin' Out

Rouse yourselves from sleep, men, we've got some work to do
tonight we're diggin' out
grab your pilfered buckets and your other makeshift tools
tonight we're diggin' out

For on the other side
Is a calm and moonless night
And we will have our revenge on the bastards, boys
we will have our revenge, I promise you
we will have our revenge

The ground is soft enough beneath the cold stone floor
tonight we're diggin' out
The lookouts watch the windows while we dig ourselves a door
tonight we're diggin' out

For on the other side
the river is shallow and wide
And we will have our revenge on the bastards, boys
we will have our revenge, I promise you
we will have our revenge

The thought of their destruction is the thing that keeps us goin'
tonight we're diggin' out
Just put your backs into it we'll be out before we know it
tonight we're diggin' out

For on the other side
there are so many places to hide
And we will have our revenge on the bastards, boys
we will have our revenge, I promise you
we will have our revenge

Diggin' Out - the Hell Yeahs

Well I thought you said you knew exactly what
You were doin'

And now my legs are pinned an'
blood is running down my face

I'm pissed and pretty stuck
woah oh oh

I showed up shoppin' for a
simple run of the ordinary
Incendiary device

But it got a bit botched
And you brought the house down (x2)

I'm plum surprised I made it
An' now I'm diggin', do I even gotta say it?

Well I think I see a piece of what was once
on your body

And a nail is diggin' in an'
I think that ankle's broke

I'm hurt and kinda crushed
woah oh oh

I showed up shoppin' for a
simple run of the ordinary
Incendiary device

But it got a bit botched
And you brought the house down (x2)

I'm plum surprised I made it
An' now I'm diggin', I'm diggin', I'm diggin' out

diggin' out - roymond

been working on the ladder climbin thing
had a plan and a job and I heard cha-ching
nothing could stop the rise up there
not an ex or the next or a life that i could not appreciate

the years are going by and i haven't seen
the life that i wanted, that i saw in dreams
another interruption and a jarring call
the winds are a changing and we want to see you in the port of call

i've logged in
i've checked in
i've called in
and i've dug in
but i don't see it ending or what i get, so now i'm diggin out

on my own
you left me
on my own
I can see (finally!)

i've logged in
i've checked in
i've called in
yes, i'm dug in
but i don't see it ending or what's in it for me, so now i'm diggin out

Man on the mountain
Digging in the frozen ground
Man on the mountain
What are you digging for?

Digging for my heart
But all he finds are broken toys
Legos and matchbox cars
A child’s love of noise
Digging for my dreams
They’re just crayon marks on a wall
Shredded paper and folded names
Echoes from the ground

Man on the mountain
Digging in the frozen ground
Man on the mountain
What are you digging for?

If you're digging for my life
Why are you digging in a grave?
Meaningless fights
Dark, dark nights
Dreams I could not save

Dig it out, Dig it out
Digging for my life
If I find a way, to feel again
I’ll search for paradise
Dig it out, Dig it out
Digging for my life
Will I dig forever in the frozen ground
Or will I turn towards the light.

Builder of tunnels ought to stay underground.
God in His mercy let me chip away -
Did He think that I'd be diggin' out to you?
Digging out where you'd be laying?

There comes a time when the snow has risen
To the top of the peaks
And thus all the angels praise the Lord

Thank you for digging through my soul O Lord (Praise the Lord)
Thank you for setting up the shafts O Lord (Praise the Lord)

Diggin' Out

By Steve Durand

I used to think that rock and roll was king
But then I learned how people used to swing

I felt my life was lacking some pizazz
But that all changed when I got hip to jazz

Now I'm diggin' sides of everything
Diggin' straight up, bop, and swing
Diggin's what it's all about
To coin a phrase
I'm diggin' out

It's been nearly sixty years since the cool was born
And all that time those cats have played their horns
So many tunes I could have listened to
I've got a lot of catching up to do

Now I'm diggin' things I've never heard
Diggin' Miles, Trane, and Bird
The music's top's without a doubt
So for a while
I'll be diggin' out

I'm diggin' morning, noon, and night
Diggin' is my new delight
If you ask me what it's all about
I'd just have to say
I'm diggin' out

Diggin' Out - Elaine DiMasi

all the talk last week
about the way we were before
with the star trek reruns
and the C64
made me think about the boys
they were simple I thought
if I had the right toys
I'd know what I had got

I'd be diggin' out the legos
dump 'em on the floor
does he know how to stack up the bricks in the wall, does he like the cars more?
does he have a favorite color? does he accessorize the astronauts in space
does he know why I'm diggin' out the legos
when he's over at my place

can I be diggin' out the legos
to take the measure of a man?
do you think that I can?
do you think that I can?
or do I put away the props now
dig right into his head
building up my structures
from the things that he said
from the things
that he said

in my mind I'm diggin' out the legos
I dump 'em on the floor
does he know how to stack up the bricks in the walls, does he like guitars more?
does he have a favorite color? does he need me to give him some space
does he know why I'm diggin' out the legos
when he's over at my place

my uplifting holiday entry...

I saw trouble brewin'
and I knew what to do
spent my whole life runnin'
all set to run on cue

But I grabbed my shovel
and I dug the dirt out of my hole

Now it's my hole

I climbed down 'side there
just my bottle and me
I ain't got no money
just got time to seethe

and I got no intention
of ever diggin' out of my hole

Not diggin' out, diggin' out of my hole

When my family come visit
they look down on me
they kick dirt on my shoulders
they won't leave me in peace

they say, "hey there Daddy
better start diggin' out of that hole"

I'm not diggin' out, diggin' out of my hole

Now I'm all alone here
just my bottle and me
I still hear voices
but there's nothing to see

they say, "hey there Daddy
better start diggin' out of that -
hey there Daddy
better start diggin' out of that -
hey there Daddy
better start diggin' out of that hole"

Diggin' Out
by Billy's Little Trip

-verse-
I tried living in outer space,
but all it did was melt my face

I bury myself in my work,
it just makes Jack a really dull jerk

Subterranean life makes me blind,
but it sure does beat the daily grind

-chorus-
I'm diggin' up, I'm diggin' out
Tired of being a prisoner of doubt
From these chains I'm breaking free
All this time I had the key

-verse-
Seein' you in my rear view,
sure gives me a brand new clue

It's been a really fun ride,
but now it's time for me to fly

-chorus-
I'm diggin' up, I'm diggin' out
Tired of being a prisoner of doubt
From these chains I'm breaking free
All this time I had the key

-verse-
One door closing means a new one opens,
here's to the hopeless and the broken

Forget the past, today's the day,
pull the gun from my mouth, I think I'll stay

-chorus-
I'm diggin' up, I'm diggin' out
Tired of being a prisoner of doubt
From these chains I'm breaking free
All this time I had the key
I'm diggin' up, I'm diggin' out
I'm trying to get to higher ground

Got to get out of the hell I'm in
This hell I'm in
This hell, this hell

-Bridge-
Down deep
It burns
Inside

-chorus-
Diggin' out, diggin' out
Diggin' out of this hell I'm in
Diggin' out of this hell I'm in
Diggin' out of this hell
I'm diggin out

Song Fight Song 065
Diggin’ Out

This song’s about metaphysical snow
I just thought you should know before we get too far into this

Well that’s really just a state of mind
Where the tasks outweigh the time, and you can never finish everything

Oooh, oooh
Diggin’ out, little by little, piece by piece, step by step, feel the relief, you’re
Diggin’ out, the best that you can, try to make the most of what you have

This song’s about givin’ it all that you’ve got
And taking that one last shot, and knocking it out of there

So take a breath and take your sights
Take what’s left and take what’s right, and work your way through it now

Oooh, oooh
Diggin’ out, little by little, piece by piece, step by step, feel the relief, you’re
Diggin’ out, the best that you can, try to make the most of what you have

Stick to it
I know you can do it
Stick to it
I know you can do it

Dig it out, little by little, piece by piece, step by step, feel the relief, you’re
Diggin’ out, the best that you can, try to make the most of what you have
Trying to make the most of what you have

Diggin' Out - Paco del Stinko

In the shadow of the castle
Down by the lake
Black forest mile
Taking a break
Too much wine and the smell of the pine
I wasn't on the menu but I went out to dine

The flicker of the candle
On the golden hill
The champion of seed
Asleep on the sill
Too much of a shock when the drawstring dropped
The itch was the beginning when it should have been the stop

They're diggin' in, so I'm diggin' out
Ass in the air, feet wigglin' about
I'm looking down and I can't see a head
Gorging on blood with a sack for a bed

By the glint of the scalpel
Behind the playground
Behold the drowning pool
Working just as fast as a greyhound
Watch them die as the light fades from their eyes
Off to the graveyard and denied of their prize

They're diggin' in, so I'm diggin' out
Ass in the air, feet wigglin' about
I'm looking down and I can't see a head
Gorging on blood with a sack for a bed
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Diggin' Out
The Styop Quoons Experience

Okay, here's a short introduction to this one for anyone who happens to care. This song is sung from the perspective of a worker ant, who gets separated from the group and lost when it starts raining and the trail he's following gets washed away. I used to play a lot of SimAnt back in the day, and when I saw this week's title my mind went to all the tunnel-digging involved in that game. I didn't have an entry for "Half a Million Nerds", so I figured I'd start somewhere geeky this time around.

Dug myself a hole
Hide me from the rain
Rest my tired legs
And my addled brain

Trail was washed away
And I cannot see
Friends are far ahead
Think they've forgotten me

So I'm digging down.

Spider overhead
Where I used to be
I'm listening to her
She's listening to me

I'll stay where I am
Safe here in the ground
Deep inside the earth
Where I won't be found

So I keep digging down.

I'm deeper down
Than I've ever been
Don't think that I want
To see the light again

But I must go back
Back to my home
Because the earth is cold
When you're all alone

So I'm digging out.

Diggin' out
(Heine, dec. 2009)

I've been hiding it for too long
now there's a feeling that can't be wrong
so I
I'm diggin' it out

There's been a time that wasn't mine
but now everything turned out fine
so I
I'm diggin' it out

lalala...

You put a smile upon my face
now, that I found your amazing grace
so I
I'm diggin' it out

The more I dig the more I find
life is getting easy with you on my mind
so I
I'm diggin' it out

lalala...

-M8-
The sun came out, again
the day you mended my heart
I've burried it much too deep
love you can't buy at the mart

-Solo-

You put a smile upon my face
now, that I found your amazing grace
and I
I'm diggin' out love

lalala... (I dig love)
