Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

They're two different animals, both enjoyable for different reasons. If I had to pick just one? I like being IN a band (fronting one was a bit more stressful than I liked). I've never recorded in a studio with a full band, so I don't know what it's like, but I think it would depend on having the right mix of people. They'd all have to be brilliant musicians to make it worth the extra hassle, and even if I was recording regularly with a band, I'd still want to also record on my own like I do now. I like the process of writing, and arranging, and fitting it all together like a puzzle.

I really enjoy that part also. But I consider that the writing process. Even when I didn't record on a computer, I would write a new song and record all the parts, make 4 cassette tapes and give the band members a copy. We all had jobs and it really streamlined the process. So when we got together to rehearse new songs for an upcoming show, we could get right down to it. Everybody adds their own style, so parts would change, but we all knew the goal, so it would come together very fast.
