Another Monday? It feels like we just had one of those.

So, maybe someone can explain how this works. The Kelley Blue Book value of my car (pre-crash) was somewhere between $15-16k. I got a call this morning from the repair shop, and they say they've estimated the damages at abotu $12,500. Then I got a voice mail from an insurance adjuster telling me that the car is totaled. Fuzzy math?

Question of the Day: Have you lost anything big/important/expensive lately? What was it? What did you do about it?

Not perosonally

But I am certainly not complaining about the cold, rainy New Zealand weather this morning

As for your car, any damage 75% or above the estimated value of the car is considered a write-off, or so I was told by the guy who did an estimate on my car.

QOTD: My 401k diminished considerably in the past 6 months. That's hard cold cash, not just equity or future investments that I'm hoping will go up in value. That's money I put in my retirement fund and it was basically stolen from me by fat greedy assholes. But hey, I live in freedom and I'm healthy! So I should count my fucking blessings!
...I'm not really mad even though I used 2 explanation points. I'm just acting mad because I'm supposed to be upset like everyone else. Is there something wrong with me that I don't care?

edit: Oh, and to add insult to injury, Paychex, who handles my 401k, took their annual $250 out of my checking account last week. *laughs insanely and slobbers a little* I just don't care.

Tonight I am seeing The Bird and the Bee and it will be awesome.

qotd: My bike, which I'd sunk about $600 into before some asshole stole it right out of my garage thanks to some neighbor leaving the garage door open overnight. Now I'm rocking a bike which cost $80 (plus $30 to rebuild the rear hub, plus $way more than the bike is worth in lights and accessories) and which I keep locked up much more securely. Sigh.

They charge you a management fee on top of what they already take out for fund overhead and individual transactions? WTF?

Also why are you doing a 401(k) if you're an independent contractor? A Roth IRA makes a lot more sense for that.

I have an IRA also. My 401k WAS doing better at one point. I keep saying I'm going to roll it to a new company. My bank (Wells Fargo) has asked me for a money management meeting several times, but I'm always too busy. I may be able to get a lesser to 0 annual charge with them because of my other banking with them.

Just roll it over. If your 401(k) company is worth anything (and they'd better be, what with the $250/year you're paying them, seriously WTF) you'll be able to do a rollover direct into your IRA without any trouble.

Never heard of them, Fluf. If for once you'd give a link to this band, I'd check them out. I can't type them into THE google and go through WHO KNOWS what kind of trouble finding them.
.......that's sarcasm. Thought I'd point that out before you get mad at me.
....Of course, me even explaining that will probably make you a little hot under the colar.
..I just can't win with you Fluffy.

OH! I forgot to mention! Fluffy, what is the time area of Mr Rone using "Fluffy" as his "new" music name line up with the movie Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist? HELLO!
....sorry Rone, didn't mean to out you, but it's rare that I win at trivia pursuit and I just watched the movie today.

I have linked to them many times in the past!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kxDxLAjkO8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI3g9RaVkdY

SRSLY they are my favorite band right now

and I have no idea why Rone has started using the name "Fluffy" but I have called him out on it a few times and he never gives a reasonable response so uh

whatever

Rone should realize the reason I don't actually release music under the name "fluffy" is I do not want to be confused with a mediocre British punk band from the 80s.

Some photos I took

also my camera has a video record function and even though it is against the club's rules I got a very nice recording of their performance of Again & Again which I shall most likely upload to YouTube

Yeah, I'd say. I've encountered several in my days. You just calmly paddle towards shore and pray you make it. They're like machines, just chomp and tear.

What?! There's *thousands* of bootlegs on youtube. Or are those people violating the ToS and risking getting kicked off youtube? (I honestly don't know, I've never uploaded a video)
