No leap day: 2/28 straight to 3/1/09

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

No leap day: 2/28 straight to 3/1/09

Post by inevitableguy »

DRC: It's the weekend, so I've really got nothing to complain about. I do have about 2 hours of work to catch up on courtesy of my day job, but I'd like to spend some time today doing some re-working on a SF! entry from a few months ago.

QotD: How much stock do you place in people's avatars? I changed mine last week because it was a picture of me taken 16 or 17 years ago, and I was afraid that people would get the incorrect impression that I was, in fact, still a teenager. Does anyone even pay attention to these things?

My brain is fried studying for a work training review. :/

QotD: I am, in fact, a sock monkey. Being a sock monkey has been much nicer than being a sock was. Phewy!
My driver's license photo is definitely way different from reality. When I go to a club, the bouncer looks at my ID and then looks up at me and then back to my photo and then makes a funny face. As if they're trying to figure out what a 30-something would bother having a fake id.

QotD: I get really confused when people change their avatars... I think I recognize peoples avatars before their user names... also... I believe that everyone looks like their avatars... :)

qotd: my avatar's a picture of me when I was like 5 years old, so I guess I take pretty much no stock in it. I'll change it when I'm no longer the baby of SF.

When I had my cartoon character self-portrayal as my avatar, the first thing a lot of people would say when they met me was, "Wow, you look just like your avatar!" in a way dripping with extreme sarcasm.

That's not why I removed my avatar though. Lately I'm just wondering about using a cartoon character to represent myself so directly.

Also I got kind of sick of seeing it everywhere.

Today I finally joined the 20th century and got a microwave. Also I recaulked my bathroom. The excitement never ends.

Someone made mine and I thought it was funny because it looked like me. I haven't changed it because I'm a creator of habit. But I will change it if someone gives me a different one.

Oh, and I do recognized people by there avatar first. I'm a visual association person. Like a dog.

Like how, Mark? But I just noticed my new title. It should say an orangish brown with a slight hint of sea breeze.

I am not such a creator of habit that I have to call out every typo or error. Sometimes people are in such a hurry to get the words from there brains to there fingers that funny things happen.

While I do recognized you're sarcasm, I don't think BLT will here it.

I get it, I was just drunk, so my freedom of typo "expressionism" was at it's peak last night, whereas my reading comprehension was not.

But yes, this morning I can comprehend the sarcasm of Spud's hilarious post.

QotD: I don't really read the username of a person posting unless they're new. Usually just a glance at the avatar tells me who's writing. I get a little confused when someone changes their avatar, but only the first few times (less if the avatar is particularly fitting, like Fluffy's and BLT's new ones). The only times it really gets aggravating is when two people have the same avatar (either to make fun of each other, or because they're using the same stock images).

My avatar isn't even a picture of me, so that's about how much stock I place in photos.

On the other hand, when I heard Reist's latest song, I was a little surprised he didn't sound younger. Then I remembered that it's just a stupid picture. So to a certain extent, perception varies. That's another reason that my avatar is just my name.

I dunno. Are Rone's posts more likely to come off as angry because his avatar is snarling? Does JB come off as more noble because he's wearing a superhero-style mask in his avatar? Are we less inclined to take Blue seriously ever since he started using that silly monkey face?

I like my avatar, but I need to live up to it. That kidney stone took me right out of the songwriting game (smack in the middle of FAWM/RPM season), but now I've got no such excuse. Hope I can do something for the next title.
