QotD: Considering I did 'Fryyyyyyyyy Dayyyyyy' last weekend, I would eat almost anything on that site. Some friends and I had drinks, set a big pot of oil heating, and commenced to batter and fry a bunch of stuff. Potato skins, chicken, cheese, oreos, sausage, bacon, Mars bar, bloomin' onion, donuts, White Castle cheeseburgers...

The best, by far, was a mixture of fluff and cinnamon toast crunch, which was then battered and fried. Ohhhhhhhjesus. So good.

Image

There's a definite regret stage of about an hour after 3 straight hours of deep frying. And the clean up = ew. The best escape plan is to go to someone else's (clean) house afterwards and deal with the cleanup the next afternoon.

I suggest everyone hold a fry day with their friends. Drink some beers, fry some ridiculous food, bond.

That's funny that you posted that site, Niv. When I posted about the Bacon Explosion about 2 weeks ago, Henrietta posted that site.

@Bjam. We ALSO have fried food day. I know it's terrible, but it's so good! I'm really good at coming up with dips and I make a great beer batter. One thing that I came up with that I've never had before is beer battered rice balls, lol. Everyone loved them. I had some left over Jambalaya in the fridge, so I rolled it in balls about the size of large gum balls, then put them in the freezer so they'd hold together until I was ready to batter and fry them.
I also had some See's chocolates that I froze, battered and deep fried. Same with chunks of cheese.

I seriously want to try the McNuggetini.

Also, pretty much every pizza on that site looks terrific, but particularly the junk food pizza and the meta-pizza.

Great link, Niv. Thanks!

I really don't think I would eat anything of that site. Not for any health reasons - I am a fat bastard after all - it just looks disgusting. And I have absolutely no idea what half of the ingredients on there were anyway.

....OK, one did get my attention a bit:

12 Bird True Love Roast
Contains 12 different kinds of bird: large turkey filled with goose, chicken, pheasant, aylesbury and barbary duck, poussin and guinea fowl, partridge, pigeon squab, quail and mallard duck. Breast meat from 48 different birds + 8 types of stuffing.

Still sounds disgusting - but I've always liked the idea of a turducken.

I want a grain of rice stuffed into a fly, stuffed into a cricket, stuffed into a sparrow, stuffed into a frog, stuffed into a chicken....and so on and so on...including various types of sheep, cattle, antelopes...ending with ...stuffed into giant squid, stuffed into an elephant, stuffed into a blue whale. Deep fried. (Serves 4-6)

EDIT:

even this one sounds good:
The largest recorded nested bird roast is 17 birds, attributed to a royal feast in France in the early 19th century (originally called a Rôti Sans Pareil, or "Roast without equal") - a bustard stuffed with a turkey, a goose, a pheasant, a chicken, a duck, a guinea fowl, a teal, a woodcock, a partridge, a plover, a lapwing, a quail, a thrush, a lark, an Ortolan Bunting and a Garden Warbler. [2] The final bird is small enough that it can be stuffed with a single olive; it also suggests that, unlike modern multi-bird roasts, there was no stuffing or other packing placed in between the birds. This dish probably could not be legally recreated in the modern era as many of the listed birds are now protected species.

Good lord, everything on that site looks unpalatable. In fact, looking at this site makes me feel downright healthy, even though I know I'm not.

On the other hand, BLT's beer battered rice balls sound fantastic. I would eat that. And not just because it sounds like a euphemism for something.

Went to the Verizon store again today because my phone is acting up again. This time it's the main screen; the image appears slanted and distorted.

They replaced it. AGAIN.

I'm on my sixth phone since upgrading a little under a year ago. It's gotten to the point where I don't even change my ring tones and shortcut keys when I get a new phone, because I know it won't last. There's no way I'm still profitable for the company, so I'm going to see if maybe I can get out of my contract without paying a termination fee.

The girl behind the counter actually commented, "You've been having a lot of problems, right? I see you in here a lot." The full impact of that comment didn't really strike me until I was on the way out the store. I'm there frequently enough with phone issues that the tech person there, who serves 20-70 people a day, recognizes me. Sheesh.

Don't buy RAZRs, people. In fact, just steer clear of Motorola in general if you can.

On the plus side, I also got new shoes which I desperately needed, and a new microphone, which I'm looking forward to showing off.

Man, I've eaten some pretty unhealthy stuff in my time and even that seems like Gandhi's diet in comparison to that site.

I really wish that site would stop making the rounds because I'm always compelled to look at it and I always feel sick afterwards.

Some of the things make me hungry. Especially anything with chocolate. I am, as LoO said, a sugar addict. Well, maybe not an addict, but I love sweets and chocolate. Mostly pastries and cake. I have a place here by my house that is a family owned and ran bakery. I almost get a head rush when I walk in the door. They have a Belgium fudge that is so intense you can only eat a very small piece and is meant to be eaten with a bitter beer. It has an almond liquor in it. I've tried to duplicate the flavors in my fudge with some success, but every time I buy some of theirs, it reminds me that I'm not even close yet. As the name states, it uses imported Belgium chocolate. :)

"Belgium" is a noun, specifically a place.

"Belgian" is an adjective which refers to things which come from that place (or are in the style of things which come from that place).
