Combining Audio Interfaces in Mac OS X

Post by Lunkhead »

Has anybody here ever tried this? I've read about it, but not tried it yet, and I'm wondering how well it works.

The basic idea is that you have >1 audio interface plugged in to your Mac, and you create a new "virtual" interface using Audio Midi Setup (can't remember the exact name of the utility app right now) that has the ins and outs of both interfaces. Then in your DAW software you can use that virtual interface just as you would a real interface. So you could use two 4-in USB interfaces at the same time and have 8-ins, for example.
