I got some more recording done before work this morning. But then I got a little carried away and wound up about ten minutes late for work. Oh well.

A couple of nights ago, I had this strange dream that I was graduating from some kind of musicians' school. My wife and I had some movie tickets, and the graduation ceremony was running way too long, which was upsetting us because we were going to miss the movie. And then at some point someone presented me with an EP of songs based on my raw tracks as finished by Ben Folds.

I woke up very confused.

Question of the Day: Had any interesting dreams lately?

QotD: I almost never remember any dreams.

Yeah, yeah, boring answer, I know.

I'll have to wait until later this evening after I've had a few beers so that I can fabricate an interesting dream. Warning, it will probably involve mental nudity and hopefully a happy ending. :P

My dreams of late are laughably transparent: I show up for a class (I'm usually subbing) without the lesson prepared. Total panic and the kids make fun of me.

In real life, this is nearly impossible. I prepare my lessons at least a month in advance and I know the textbook we use so well I could probably come up with a good lesson in about five minutes anyway.

In my other series of interesting dreams, I'm usually some kind of spy or assassin. It's very 007 - except for the parts when I get shot. Not the best way to wake up in the middle of the night.

As for news, just got some great stuff. I usually teach introductory-level French (you know, I, II, III). But this coming fall, I'm being tapped to teach an upper level course for majors : FREN 4404 Special Topics. Yeah, I'm thinking French cinema (being that I have a book on French War Films coming out later this year.) :) But maybe the department wants something else. We'll see: I have a meeting with the department head tomorrow afternoon.

I remember dreams maybe once a week on average. Depends on stress and how well I'm sleeping and so on. I usually post the more memorable/interesting ones on my weblog.

qotd: no interesting dreams lately, but I used to dream about my job before I quit it. That is to say, I'd get up, have a shower, get dressed, get in the car, stop at Tim Hortons or 7-11 for a coffee, drive to work, and work for a couple hours. Then, my alarm clock would go off, and I'd have to do it for reals. There is nothing in the world worse than this.

My dreams lately are usually sexy or ridiculous, or both.

My bad work dreams usually manifest themselves as something much more ridiculous, like being stuck back at an old job I quit long ago and being expected to do all sorts of bizarre things while being insulted by management.

There's a comic strip called 'Slow Wave'. Odd dreams illustrated. :) Here's one I had submitted a while back:

Slow Wave is excellent. I got one of my recurring nightmares from childhood as a comic back in its first year, but unfortunately the first year strips are no longer available online for some reason. It was the one about an infomercial with a rabid vacuum cleaner which would recycle everything it ate, and it ended up eating/recycling the infomercial host.

That's funny! Drat, I don't remember that one. The website says he has a Slowwave book out, could it be in there?

I'm pretty sure it's in the first collection, yeah. He invited me to buy a copy at a discount when it came out but I didn't take him up on it. I should have, though, since it's apparently out of print now. Oh well.

Anyway if you do happen to find it, I was using the pseudonym "Hari Nezumi" at the time.
