April Fools!
... well, not really. This morning, I showed this video to my class:

Though this is a French class and not actually French people, the practice is authentic. Short version: In France, instead of practical jokes, the tradition is to surreptitiously (or not, as you can see) tape a fish to someone and see how long they go without realizing. Cute, funny, harmless. I shared this with with my students as a bit of cultural exploration.
So, question of the day: do you do anything particular - or have you done something cool - for April Fools Day? Or pranking in general?
Myself, no. I find that most pranks become mean-spirited very easily and I don't derive any pleasure from the public embarrassment of others. Still, while in the Boy Scouts at summer camp, there were some doozies. One of our lead councilors was a very heavy sleeper. So, one night a bunch of councilors got together and put his cot - with him sound alseep upon it - on a wide canoe, and then pushed it out the middle of the lake. They kept watch to make sure he didn't drown, and he took it very well. But it was a real sight the next day when all the campers showed up for the morning swim!

Re: April Fools!
hey, anyone remember hoblit threatening to quit making music and songfight a few years back (ok, maybe a bunch of years back now....) on april fools day? and we all bit and gave him all kinds of love and virtual hugs until we realized what day it was?
that was great.
and hoblit's still around. more than me probably.

Yeah, now I'm in two bands and have even hosted a Songfight LIVE! since. Suckers.
I SWEAR I didn't think it would cause so much fuss and that my joke was transparent, given the day it was!

Re: April Fools!
Did Spud and JB finally take advantage of the plethora of interwebz money? Or is it an April fools joke? If it's not a joke, there will be an excess of cash in the SF account for advertising. I would like to help advertise SF by wearing a SF fdrinked T-shirt. I wear an XL (shutup, they shrink). Mailing address PMd. Thank you in advance.

Re: April Fools!
oh yeah, i rearrange all of my coworkers keyboards to spell out APRFOQLS on the night or march 31st.
then they got back at me by doing this.
This is what my desk looked like yesterday morning when i walked in.
i just walked pass it, and decided to take the day off and go sailing instead.

What sucks about me is that I didn't think those two instruments were real and I was more interested in whether the phone was a Cisco or a Linksys.Generic wrote:You get to keep your guitar and uke in your cubicle? I wanna work where you work, man.

Re: April Fools!
That's one we haven't come across yet. We've heard of them but we don't sell those. (We don't sell Cisco's or Linksys phones either but some of our clients have them.) Re: April Fools!
I haven't heard of Avaya before but that looks like a generic VoIP phone along the same lines as Grandstream (although they don't seem to make a model which looks quite like that).
