365 Great Songfight Songs
I meant to start this on January 1st, but I forgot.
365 Great songfight songs!
STREAM ALL (UPDATED AS THE LIST IS UPDATED)
HERE IS A LIST of all of the songs mentioned thus far.
JANUARY 1st
Jon Bennett - Golfpunk Drives A Cadillac
It only makes sense to kick off a project like this, by using a song from the very first songfight. Notice the Beach-Boys style harmonies that add a nice touch to this Songfight oldie. This is a great track that is bound to be stuck in your head when you least expect it. It is actually amazing how well a lot of the older songs turned out, considering the restrictions on mp3 size. Check it out!

The temperatures are pretty cold this time of year. It could be a good night for a VIDEO NIGHT. Check out the clever fake movie trailers in the song, it's one of the highlights of the track. I think the song has excellent production, and it is an incredibly fun song.

Re: 365 Great Songfight Songs
Your History Channel doesn't seem to acknowledge that the Commonwealth of Australia was inaugurated on 1 January 1901. I think you should find yourself a better history channel.GlennCase wrote: JANUARY 1st

I will make this suggestion: pick every "song of the day" so that every date coincides with the dates for which the song was to be written. For example, the songs for "Floating Bridge" were being wriiten between 1/04/02 and 1/28/02, so the song Floating Bridge by The Pickup Artists could be the song of the day for 1/5/04.

Is your time not precious? Does your song-producing incredibleness not take up enough time? What will the missus say? What will your boss say?
Furthermore: I now have added a STREAM ALL option, after getting permission from Fightmaster Jr. I will be updating this daily, or at least as often as I update the favorite songs area.

The Martians are going to eat us fight went from 01/05/04 - 01/12/04. sonofsupercar knows how to bring the ROCK, and this is a perfect example. There is a sort of controlled chaos that the band unleashes on songs like this. It's like there are musical monsters inside each musical instrument, and the band members are doing their best to keep the monsters active, but contained. Can you tell that I love this song?

Zero to Phantom may have been the title from 11/15/04 - 11/25/04, but long before that it was the 7th songfight in history between 01/04/01 - 01/12/01.
It says something about a song, when it can still get 11 votes nearly 4 years after being recorded. This is the first song that ever got a perfect 10 rating from me. The rhythm makes me bounce around in my chair like a maniac. I like fun songs. This is a VERY fun song. I can picture Apache Indian (Boom-Shack-A-Lack) attempting to cover this track.

Heh.
I appreciate the added historic facts that the History Channel missed out on, Senor Ray!
Who needs the History Channel?! We got Caravan Ray!
P.S. I am actually not being sarcastic, I think it is rad that you are contributing to this thread. Your 432 posts at the time of my typing this is rather impressive.

JANUARY 7th
MC Frontalot - Floating Bridge
The Floating Bridge fight took place from 01/04/02 - 01/28/02. This was the third songfight appearance of the internet superstar himself, MC Frontalot. I could be wrong, but I do believe this was the first time that a songfight entry sampled a songfight song. The sample came from English as a Foreign Language - It's Invisible. I have my own special memory of this track that makes me smile, however.
Getting the chance to play for 700 people as MC Front's bass player at the Penny Arcade Expo was a dream come true for me. We had 3 rehearsals, and a sound check before the show itself. I would say that we did pretty good under the circumstances. Floating Bridge was never intended to be part of the set at all, and it never was part of the set.
Cool things happened during soundcheck. Watching the Minibosses messing around playing "The Boys are back in town" by Thin Lizzy was amazing. The guitarists were out in the audience area with their wireless guitar setups, checking out the sound. I was floored, but I am getting off the subject here.
During soundcheck, I started kiddingly goofing around and playing the main riff for Floating Bridge on my bass. So, Front starts rapping the lyrics. We actually played Floating Bridge during the soundcheck, and I wish I had video footage of it. It was so fun, and it sounded really good for just goofing around.
At any rate... I think of that soundcheck every time I hear this track now.
This is also a good example of a track that is both entertaining, and informative.

JANUARY 8th
Loyalty Day - Hey Ruth
I heard this long after the fight was already done and won by this very song. It reminds me a lot of the Cardigans, in a good way. I love the Cardigan's "First Band On The Moon" CD, and I tend to think this song would have fit in perfectly in the mix of that album. I like Loyalty Day's sound enough to decide on getting the same sound card that the band uses. It should arrive any day now, and I am excited about that.
