Current Set List:

Don't Think I Don't Miss You Lyrics

[E] - [Am] - The soloing actually floats between the keys of D and G

we could've had forever but you gave it all away
you stole my piece of happiness so I sent you to your grave
you stranded me in this world so I put you in the dirt
I may have brought you down but it don't take away my hurt

don't think I don't miss you I do
don't think I don't miss you I do

I can still hear you screaming looking for mercy
but how could I spare your life you'd not have done for me
I struggle with your memory your life and your death
I just couldn't stand being alone now I'll just live with regret

don't think I don't miss you I do

Don’t Break My Heart, George Lucas

here are the words for DMYHGL - i have no idea what key it's in, but the progression seems to be verse is I and the chorus repeats the same in V (like C, and then change to F for the chorus.) We could probably sample and loop the drums from the beginning of the track for the percussion...

(being a song about using the mind-wipe company from ‘Eternal Spotlight of the Spotless Mind’ to obliterate the memory of the Star Wars prequels. Naturally.)

Don’t break my heart x3
Don’t break my …

Eternal sunshine of the childish mind
Lacuna Inc it has erased my brain
We’re going out and it’s the very first time
Ah, one more chance to put it behind you, yeah

Don’t break my heart, George Lucas x2

You pay the fare or you pay the price
Once bitten, twice is shy but what is thrice?
Our childhood dreams they are so hard to beat
But you have tried your best the challenge to meet
And I’m not a battered wife but …

Don’t let me down, again (don’t break my heart)
Don’t let me down again
Lacuna Inc is waiting x2
To erase you again x2

Prepare for your journey to Black Ellis Island x3
Prepare for your journey – prepare! prepare!

Tomorrow Never Knows

Rhymes with Lucia

Long night of drinking
Soused on Sangria
She gave up thinking
And rhymed with Lucia

Fists full of flowers
Poppies and Spirea
She wastes her hours
And rhymes with Lucia

It took a while
(Rhyme and Reasons)
But she got used to the idea
(Time and Seasons)
After falling for miles
She rhymes with Lucia

I know it's been a long time
And it's so wonderful to see you
But there is nothing so sublime
As rhymes with Lucia

Courage

everyday i pray to no one
for the courage to continue
i run endlessly in the infinite courtyard after your thoughts
and here in the dim twilight incessantly i dream

Give me the courage
To turn the tables
Overcome my conscience
Finish what you started

my heart stops beating every time your voice i hear
(he took the mirror of my trust)
my desire for your skin giving me the courage
(threw it from the 10th story window of our apartment)
Get up and get on with my prayers
(watched it fall like an angel drifting)
my prayers to no one for the courage to continue
(watched it break like a raindrop landing)
loped slowly down the stairs
(job is half-finished)
gathered all the pieces
(There's more to follow)
stared at a million refractions of my tears
(I have found courage in other's terror)
then i scarred him with the fragments of my love

So, we need to figure the best way to do the Natlay voice because the live whisper just won't cut it. We need to do some sort of voice modification but how. I know there are devices but I don't think any of us have one.

That was my initial thought too. One of the members of xtrg just has to find one and pick one up.

At SFL in Atlanta Craig had his mic running into his laptop for vocal fx. I might be able to set something similar up for you... For at least one of our songs I would like some vocal fx also, let me investigate and let me know if you are interested.

Depends on how fake you want the voice to be. I can make a mechanical, affected voice in different ways, "naturally". I just don't think it will work as a whisper. I can definitely imitate the synth-type voices I've heard people put in recordings.

Hmmm, we can try it. Do you have a recording of what it sounds like?

I can make you one. And you can send it through the FX everyone else is proposing, too, and pick what you like.

Is it truly terrible to admit that I have no idea what 'Tomorrow Never Knows' sounds like?

Still happy enough to go with it. I only had two ideas for the Talking Heads cover we were discussing - 'Don't Worry About the Government' or (preferably but all chord-changey) '(Nothing But) Flowers'. So let's go for the Beatles. I'll youtube it or something!

Let's start figuring out some of the details.

There's the question of where are we rehearsing this? We can do Saturday afternoon (May 16) at Casa de Niv, if everyone is willing to truck to Central Jersey. If not, then we need to find a place on Sunday.

Then there's the question of visuals. Doing this straight doesn't seem fitting with the music. I think we should, at the very least, play around with Sidewalk's on-stage video projector.

Do we have footage/images we want to use? What format video will play? It's a nice idea but we don't want to over-stretch ourselves, I guess.

Slightly passe but 'home movie' footage (kid's birthday parties, BBQs, weddings) migt be suitably unsettling, especially if the people on-screen aren't in the band?

I've got nothing, video-wise, I'm afraid, but I like the idea.

As for rehearsal time, I'm totally free Saturday and I'm sure I can arrange transportation from the city.

Tomorrow Never Knows
Here is a cover by a guy from Japan who covered the entire Revolver album, renamed Revolvah. He came to the states and performed the entire album live a couple times. Keytars were included. Anyway, his version of TNK has more guitar/bass/drums than the Beatles version, so I thought you may find it interesting.
