1:59 according to Audition and iTunes. 2:00 according to Gmail.
I think I'm safe.
Now on the other hand, I hope that 'repetition of chorus' rule isn't too strict. Because my tendency toward lyrical repetition is lower than average.
We'll see. With any luck, four people didn't get a song in, and MC Eric B didn't have a sudden stroke of genius.

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
A power outtage wiped out some of my work and wrecked my recording schedule. Had to do a rush job to finish and deliver just under the wire, and corners were cut. I'm in (2:00), but I don't feel great about it.

Looks like the songs are going up. I see 23 so far in the "results, titles, songs (no comments)" thread. Do we have 2 dropouts already? That's a bummer. Looks like it's BLT, and Glenn and Rachael.

Living up to Sister Cocaine and Sleepwalking, this is a fantastic bunch of songs! This is going to be tough.

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
Lots of good songs again this week. On the first listen I'd pick Howl Down the Chimney, Ross Durand, Tex Beaumant and Tiny Robots as the front-runners. A lot of songs this week felt like they struggled to squeeze long songs down; it's hard to write a short song I think, especially when most of us are used to 3-4 minutes.
For all those who can't find the solo in my song (it's pretty weak) it's the plinky keyboard that comes in at 1 minute-ish. Also if you don't like the rapping check out take 1.

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
Oh man, this sucks... my track sounds wrong on here and I just realized why. In my haste to render my final mix a handful of minutes before the deadline, I must have accidently muted one of the tracks . So now, on top of everything, the mix is lopsided, thin, and weird. Ah well, at least if I get eliminated I won't have to wonder why.
In case anyone is interested in hearing my track as it should have been, I uploaded it here.

Yes - they sound a little different - but either way, not that different. Both sound fine as far as I can tell.Teplin wrote:Oh man, this sucks... my track sounds wrong on here and I just realized why. (and for the record - I have no problems with a judge listening to the "should have" track and forming opinions subsequently)

Heh, thanks Ray, that makes me feel a bit better. Hard to be objective about your own stuff... so of course it'll sound like a bigger difference to me than it will to anyone else (also, I notice it more through headphones).Caravan Ray wrote: Yes - they sound a little different - but either way, not that different. Hmmm... yeah, I never even considered that. If anyone feels like it causes an ethical problem, the judges should definitely avoid listening to my "should have been" track.(and for the record - I have no problems with a judge listening to the "should have" track and forming opinions subsequently)

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
I emailed BLT a preview of my song this week and he thought it was so good that it would be pointless for him to compete against me.

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
Well, it's Nur Ein tradition for me to have problems getting my song in on time and I'm sorry to say I sent mine in a "tad" late. I had serious computer issues. Just trying to push it to hard before bouncing tracks I guess. I had it done at 7:30ish and after the song was all mixed down the computer was laggy, so I restarted my computer and it wouldn't turn back on. After trying everything I could and then with some help from my son, I was able to pull out the HD and get the wav file off of it using another computer, make an MP3 and sent it in, but almost 2 hours late. So depressing investing so much time and have this happen.
Anyway, what would Nur Ein be without drama? So I'd like to start a petition. It's the "Let BLT In Round 1" initiative.
Who will sign?
NUR EIN!

Re: Nur Ein IV: Round One
Let's let the judges decide whether it should be included in the fight.
That said, I'd love to hear your song, BLT.

On the plus side, you can tell your story in a song called "Sorry to Inform You" and send it in to Songf---oh sorry, that deadline has passed as well.

Glenn and Rachael, you will be missed!!!!
BLT, it's shame that you had technical problems, as you add so much to this competition.
On the other hand, please enjoy the normal life you can lead while not participating in Nur Ein!
