Hmm, my wife for her PhD did astronomy (cosmology), but I'd hardly say she was famous for it. She says the most famous astrophysicist she has met is vera rubin, but i think that was after she was well known in those circles.
back to the actors, she also went to high school with jimmy fallon and was good friends with his sister for a time, but not since high school.
i think, upon reflecting, that i have known no people that became famous later unless you count starfinger or something, haha.
