I've got a great idea for a song about drunken sailors!

...errr, there aren't any fans of 1960s' Belgian pop-music here are there?

Yes but I won't tell if you don't.

OK this is the first time I have previously written a song with the SF title of the week. For FAWM 3 years ago, as Hoosenbergler. Me$$iah even did a cool cover version of it.

Any chance everyone can look the other way while I re-record the ukulele version I have been playing live?

It's either that or nick the chords from Jacques Brel.

No? I didn't think so. *sigh* it's like God himself doesn't want me to songfight, or something :)

Amsterdam was a regular open mike song of mine when I was in college. I loved the entire "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well ..." soundtrack!

Me too when I lived in Mt Isa. But I don't really know why I thought a Belgian sea-shanty was appropriate for an outback Queensland mining town

Well, I was inspired and have already written my lyrics to "Amsterdam" ... my song references my singing Jacques Brel when I was young, not the city itself. Looks like I may meet my goal of participating in a songfight this month.

Then again, I've only done four fights, and there have been three where I wrote songs but didn't get them recorded. If you don't count Nur Ein, that's a pretty crappy success rate! Considering that, my submitting four Nur Ein songs on time is outstanding!

Banged out an instrumental for this yesterday. Sorta technoir. And there's still 6 days to the deadline! For once I've got the luxury of time to sit on the mix for longer than an hour...

So yeah, I'll be in this one.

I look forward to hearing what a Rone Rivendale 2nd take sounds like.

I've been sitting on an idea for a few days. Today I'm committing. I'll be in.

Incidentally, this Sunday - the deadline - happens to be my and the wife's first wedding anniversary!

I'll be most likely in, but I will be leaving Thursday morning for the rest of the weekend, so I only have 2 1/2 days to write this song, and I want it to be good and big, so it might come out much more crappier than i'm picturing right now.

Just so you know... the update might take a little longer than usual. I will be in Hong Kong, and am not sure what my internet connection is going to be like. Actually, I may be in Beijing at the deadline. Will have to check the time difference...

Aww, and after breaking the update speed record for "World's Greatest Dad," too...

It's alright, Spud. We love you and appreciate everything you do for this place.

I love Amsterdam. Bikes, bridges, strong coffee, live sex shows, red light district, and not an obese person in the fold. I left a little piece of me there and hope to return. I may be in this one.

I am excited for this one! I hope I get done with my song. My internet died when I did my World's Greatest Dad entry, and I never did the vocals.
Gimmie one good reason not to do it.

Whilst people are looking the other way, and as j$ mentioned it, would there be any objection to me sending in my cover of this Hoosenclassic.

From the FAQ:
The FAQ wrote: No covers are allowed, unless you are so creative with it that we can't tell it's a cover.
So... I'm thinking no. Go ahead and post it to the board if you like, though. I'd like to hear it.
