I'm actually headed for the Phoenix area directly afterward.
Been, umm, right here... just haven't been doing much music, though I have been looking at the last couple SF titles, thinking about trying something. Weirdly enough, I think that whole P4P thing was part of the reason I stopped fighting... For a couple years there I thought I was retired, but with what's happened with the economy, it appears that I am back in the ranks of the unemployed...

Hobs: no, not coming to Spokane, but if you want to get together in Phoenix, PM me and we can see about connecting.

Lunkhead's tool is making it much easier to look up some of these answers than I thought it would be. I actually wasted about two hours looking up the answer to that question by hand.

Anyway. Next question:
Would you believe MC Frontalot once bragged about how badly he was going to lose? Of course he still won. What was the fight?

Uhhh, Yellow Lasers? (pew pew, heh)

If it's not that, my only other guess would be the fight where his pet was in the cover art. (Yes, I know what the title is, being the person who made the art... ;-) but I figure one outright guess per customer, so the second one is an allusion, boo!).

Floating Bridge. I remember him expressing a bit of dismay that he still won.

Can't believe I didn't see this thread before since I've known most of the answers (except ones which require looking up).

FWIW, It's Charging is clearly Drew. Listen to his Dog Traders entries and then listen to It's Charging. I think at one point he also specifically said that he was Top Meat Surdo. And it sounds absolutely NOTHING like anything Narbotic's ever done.

Yes, it was "Floating Bridge." I seem to recall that song being panned in the review thread, as well. And yet it won.

A cookie for fluffy! And I'll go ahead and defer to him on the "It's Charging" thing, as well. Sorry for the confusion there.

Next question:
To date, there's only been one three-way tie. What was the fight?

And of course since Jon probably doesn't know everything, I have some trivia questions for others too. I'm too impatient to wait for people to answer before posting more, though.

1. Which early band was undefeated every time they entered? (for bonus points, why is the second half of that question relevant?)

2. What is the Elite Inner Echelon Blood Circle, and who named it?

3. Who entered the most collaborations in a single fight? Do they have a posse?

4. Who accidentally broke Octothorpe's record for the longest continuous entry streak?

5. Which entry of which fight spawned the first of many 5-page discussions about what constitutes a song?

Thanks Fluffy, because I was having those same impatient feelings.

I'll answer #1. The answer is Nil. They were undefeated over 5 fights. Their only "loss" came during the ABCD Puppies fight (they had won the A B C D Puppies fight). They never entered the song, it was entered for them.

I know 2 & 4 as well but I'll let someone else have a go.

Interesting way to cheat, fluffy. I didn't try that; didn't think it would work.

The answer to your #3 is Patrick Clayton ("Postcard") but I'm not sure what you mean by "posse."

And I'm not 100%, but I believe the answer to #4 is Johnny Cashpoint, right?

3 is right. Patrick Clayton has a posse. (Someone made a parody of the "Andre the Giant has a posse" sticker after the fight went up, after a rather long delay.)

4 I'm not sure about. I had someone else in mind. It's possible I was wrong.

i think this was wreckdom

2. Right on the membership, lacking in the details. Glenn did not name it.

4. That is the answer I was looking for. But it may be wrong.

5. Off by a few years.

Okay, I seem to recall sometime in 2004 J$ referring to a then-current streak that was longer than 26 consecutive fights (which was #'s record, which was met and intentionally left intact by first myself, then Glenn).

Doing the research, I see a streak of entries that might run from j$'s first Songfight entry, "Please Don't Call Me Ken," through "The Chair We Share" (which would make 27; I didn't look any farther than that).

I'm making a few assumptions: namely that he was involved in Transatlantic Fight Club ("Crinkle Binkle" and "The Spirit World") and MC Shatner-Boy & The Suave Noise Youth ("Fight the Sea"), and that he was the "Johnny" in Johnny and June ("Mission Accomplished"). I also can't find a band name that sounds like j$ was involved in any of the fights that ran from 06/07/04 - 06/14/04 ("Thanks for Coming," "Elvis in Space," and "Cellar Door").

In other words, I could also be misremembering. :) When was WreckdoM's streak?

Okay, it could be J$ then. It's hard to tell because of how the archive is set up.

Well, the "what" I was going for was something along the lines of "a group of long-time songfighters who all shared a single birthday." Strictly-speaking, all songfighters born on 6/14 are part of the EIEBC, although we haven't managed to get around to doing a second song (not for lack of trying).

It was not named by an EIEBC member (although I think I'm the one who suggested we use the name for our joint Elvis In Space entry).

I recall that one because Marcus Kellis and I did a cover of it.

My bad, I meant the fight from 05/28/04 - 06/07/04 ("Say the Word," "Less of You," and "Fear is Free").
