8-4-09 (The Music Video question)

Post by Niveous »

DRC: Just another living in the hood. Just another day around the way.

QotD: Music is a listening experience but we always look for other ways to add to the experience. For instance, every fight has to have cover art- a visual representation to go along with the music. Today's question is about another musical form of visual expression (one of my favorites- the music video).

If you could make a music video for any Songfight song, which song would you choose and what would the video look like?

I would want to make a music video for The Hell Yeahs' "Radio Ready". It would intersperse story and live performance. The story section would be Heather as the main character, robbing a jewelry store at the mall but something goes wrong as she waits for the signal over her walkie talkie telling her the coast is clear for the getaway. There would be cutaways to the accomplice who is watching from elsewhere and unable to get their walkie talkie to work. Lots of tense moments as Heather is left essentially holding people hostage, waiting for the sign. Finally she gets it and makes a run for it just as the police arrive. That would all be in between a live performance where the Hell Yeahs (live band version, whatever that would be) would be playing on a revolving stage.

starfinger's "more than soup". and i'd want him to star in it of course. :)

he'd be in the kitchen, like emeril all iron chefed up with a toque and that beard of his.

and i'd want his wife to say "look honey green onion".

and i'd want a kazoo solo. the kazoo solo could be like a smoke alarm (since it's a one note solo)

prayformojo's "On My Block."

He'd be standing in the middle of a street somewhere in suburbia, crooning to the camera as cars line up behind him, interspersed with interior shots of a wife and husband (the latter may or may not be played by mojo) in tense domestic situations.

Fun!

Alternately, I'd love to see a video for Jim of Seattle's "Gin or Ginseng" featuring a tracking shot of Jim singing as he walks through a city park, downtown area, or university campus on a bright sunny day while behind him (and unbeknownst to him), animals start attacking passersby, people get mugged, cars crash into each other, and other terrible things happen.

I want to make a video of my own song "Under The Horse", featuring a real horse and a highly-trained adult movie industry stuntwoman re-enacting the death of Czarina Catherine the Great.

It would only be available through certain exclusive Netherlands based gentlemen's DVD suppliers, or websites that require prood of age and a valid credit card.

qotd: I was working on a music video for my "Bad Cat" but I only got halfway done. I should finish it someday.

I also had ideas for <3's version of "Rhymes With Lucia"

Less selfishly, Frankie's "Last Date" would make for a nice little theatrical production.
