I wish you guys would stop giving Rone the benefit of the doubt here. I have said it before, while it IS cardboard, it isn't even cut out, so you can hardly call it a cardboard cutout. I'll bet it would be a lot tougher opponent it it was actually cut out. Pick on somebody your own shape, Rone. So you beat a rectangular piece of cardboard. Wow. Just TRY those lame-ass move against a piece of contoured cardboard and you may be sorry.

When it actually gets to the "action", it's either a dumbass on a trampoline with a cardboard cutout, bouncing around like a jackoff, or two dumbasses on a trampoline, bouncing around like jackoffs. Look out Tarantino, there's a new kid in town

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate you; just your stupid fucking videos.
Well:
1. you can't hear the cameraman breathing since I muted the audio to the videos, and instead added on music and commentary in editting.
2. if your reviews are any indication, you do hate me. :D

Okay, enough Rone-hijacking of this thread. Back to awesome videos:

Those wacky Japanese! I love this song from the first listen. Must explore further, however I can't read Japanese.

I got the translation from my cubicle-neighbor Lisa, who was a Japanese major and worked over there for Panasonic for quite a few years. Sometimes she'll pick up the phone and I'll expect to hear boring project-manager-ese, and she'll start babbling in Japanese. Kind of amusing, and of course she likes to show off. ;)

There were a couple choices, but that one looked and sounded the best.

Okie, I watched that 'other' backyard wrestling vid. Those ETTW guys do alot of flippy floppy moves but they are reckless and I wouldn't be surprised if each and every one of those guys end up majorly injured if that's the kind of show they always put on.

Our fed is more realistic, more comedic, we protect each other. Actual pro wrestlers spend years learning how to make moves LOOK painful without actually hurting people. Those ETTW guys are just doing whatever they think looks good, without any thought to match psychology or the general welfare of their own body and the body of their opponent. It's pathetic.

You probably won't ever see a shooting star press from the trampline to the ground in POBYW but you also will never see any of us in the hospital either. But we'll entertain the pants off of you with our matches, our promos, and our storylines which are just now getting off the ground.

I get that you guys like to take the piss out of me. But along with my music, this wrestling thing is the most important thing going on in my life. No, this is more important than the music. I've written ONE song since I started the fed and that was 9/11 Was An Inside Job. I hope at least a couple of you continue to follow the fed. We aren't going away any time soon. Shows are going to continue to come out every Wednesday. I won't post a link for each show anymore cuz it will clog up the thread. But I reserve the right to link every once in a while. Maybe every Best Of, which I plan to do every 4 shows.

Yeah, a bit of a rant. But the fact is most backyard wrestling is lame. And I set out from the beginning to make POBYW better. And so far I've done just that.

Wow, Rone. Me posting up that video really peed in your cornflakes, didn't it.

As one of the few wrestling fans on Songfight, let me do the Songfight thing and give you a real honest criticism because I did watch all of those videos in hopes of finding something entertaining. I'll admit that I came in with a prejudice. When I see a trampoline in a backyard federation, I usually expect some spots. The ETTW video that I posted up is very extreme. It's fun to watch but it does exemplify one of backyard wrestling's greatest drawbacks which is it's often full of people who are bound to get hurt doing this stuff. The wrestlers of POBYW aren't gonna get hurt doing this but they aren't entertaining either. I guess you need to find a happy medium.

Now I know this is played for comedy but the jokes are awfully weak. You've got people wrestling a cardboard cutout. I've seen wrestlers wrestle inanimate objects before. In Japan's DDT federation, their hardcore champion was a ladder. The joke was weak there. POBYW has nowhere near the comedic acumen of DDT, plus it's how you started the fed. Someone's first exposure is to see someone called Emo Fluffy wrestle a cardboard cutout. It doesn't come off a funny ha-ha. It's funny sad.

Turning on the first video, you get a grainy look at a cutout that falls over and then there's the Emo Fluffy entrance. Honestly, if I wasn't doing a review right now, I would've clicked away already. If this is done for comedy, why isn't the commentary funny? Have you ever seen Chikara? Anyways, so it's the first time anyone sees this Fluffy character and guess what, there is no character. It's just some dude with makeup and a hat fighting a cutout. How is that supposed to be entertaining? And then comes the promos without sound, followed by another character-less character vs. a cutout. And then you end it off by saying that you hope it'll be better next time. Nothing attracts an audience like self-depreciation. Ugh.

So fast forward to show #4. Maybe #1 was a pilot flop and by #4 the kinks are out and the product gets decent? Still no sound on the promos. And then another match against the cutout....oh wait, it's a no-show. That's entertainment? But hey, there's still a three way dance. It's the pink hat guy that is supposedly emo vs. the guy with the broom vs. the generic kid named Bubba. Hmmm. One guy has a broomstick. Why doesn't he just beat the bejesus out of the other two with it, especially when Emo Fluffy just goes and sits down? Ugh. This is honestly terrible. Wrestling is full of hundreds of moves. Pick a few and do them. I give up. Oh and I can't forget my fave part. "Generic redneck kid. You put me in prison for some reason but now I'm back and I'm gonna beat you up Superstar style". And seemingly superstar style is a clothesline that the victim doesn't sell and has to be re-shot.

Why did I take the time to write this, folks? "This wrestling thing is the most important thing going on in my life". So, I took a moment out of my day to give his project a little attention. It may have sucked but I watched and reviewed it (now my halo shines a li'l brighter). But I won't be watching again because most of the characters are less than one dimensional (they're just names), the matches lack any sort of quality, you said something about storylines but I couldn't find any and it seems that only person who can do a decent move is your niece and she was behind the camera most of the time. If this is the most important thing you've got going, might I suggest a new hobby? Painting? Maybe take up a new language. Schools have online courses....

Okie, I'll bite. :D

I'm glad you share my opinion of most backyard feds. It's all fluff and no substance.

Our roster are gimmickless and bland? Really? Fluffy wears black makeup, black tshirt with pink letters, and a pink fedora. He climbs into the ring and sits ala Raven. He employees alot of strikes. He is very protective of his hat. Granted he's had one promo so far but it showed alot about his character. He's arrogant. He doesn't feel any of the other wrestlers are up to his standard. And he has a psychotic smile. The Grim Sweeper is a deranged janitor who abused his broom on every show. He runs around like a maniac. And although his in ring moves need alot of work he is far from bland. Bubba J and Cletus are rednecks thru and thru. You said you watched ep 4, Bubba J had a really funny promo about drinking beer and watching nascar. And it's been shown that Bubba J is basically invulnerable to head attacks. Simon Starr is.. well a cardboard cutout. But if you saw ep 1 you know he isn't completely helpless either. He got in a little bit of offense against Fluffy in their match. He even got a victory over Count Remart (cuz the idiot no-showed us 3 times in a row).

No story? Fluffy and Sweeper are in the middle of the fed's first real fued. Sweeper wanted a match with Fluffy, Fluffy told Sweeper he had to beat the cardboard cutout before he'd consider him a threat. The have a match and Fluffy beats Sweeper and insults him by leaving his pink fedora on Sweeper's chest. Sweeper challanges Fluffy to a submission match. Later that show he tosses the hat back to Fluffy as they have a 3 way including Bubba J. Sweeper uses Vicious Vic Rules' interference to steal a victory and give Fluffy his first loss, although he wasn't pinned. Next week Fluffy and Sweeper have their Submission match which is going to take the fued to a whole new level that no one will see coming.

And speaking of Vicious Vic Rules. We got the beginning of a new storyline where VVR costs Bubba J a victory which would have made him 2 and 0 in POBYW. He said that Bubba J got him thrown in jail. Of course their Hardcore match next week will reveal more on that. But trust me, the reason for VVR being in jail will come out. And the fued will include more than VVR and Bubba J. There is a certain brother who is going to want to protect Bubba J from VVR. :D

You expect WWE style stories? WWE has been around in various incarnations since the 50's. We've had FOUR shows. We haven't even crowned our 1st champion yet. (that happens on the Oct 7th show btw)

Commentary isn't funny? You do realize that the commentary is monotone on purpose right? It's a gimmick. There are alot of jokes thrown in there. Whether it's a clever pun, or just a witty way to cover up a botched move.

Keep watching. The more shows we do the less 'one dimensional' the characters will be. Takes a while to flesh out a storyline. The Rock wasn't the The Rock the first time he stepped into a ring. His character was developed over a long period of time until it caught on with the fans.

That's like saying none of the 5 million people who watch WWE every Monday could possibly care because they aren't a part of the show. It's fine if you don't like it, but don't speak for everyone else.

Every episode of WWE Raw costs half a million bucks to make and is filled with the world's elite wrestlers and written by professional writers. You're a couple of untrained fuckheads fucking around on a trampoline in Kansas. Even if it is entertaining who would give a shit. You're the same as every other fuckwit on youtube who thinks they're a legend because they can sing or play guitar or dance or jump off of something. Just because Mariah Carey or Buckethead or Michael Jackson or Steve-O are popular doesn't mean the people on youtube are worth anything. There's a thing called quality which I already know from your music that you don't understand but it means that doing the same form of entertainment doesn't make what you do as, or at all, consumable, so the five million people who watch WWE every monday don't mean shit here. Backyard wrestling is fun, I get that. But it's fun to do, it's fun to watch the video with your friends of what you've done, but watching people you don't know have a low quality wrestling match on a trampoline isn't great entertainment. Keep doing it and have fun, but you're amateurs in a form of entertainment where the world doesn't give a shit about amateurs. I'm sure there are people on the internet who want to watch you, but they are not here. Most of the people here wouldn't even be receptive of CHIKARA which is world class wrestling and comedy. Your fed isn't better than CHIKARA is it? If you really think you have something to offer you should go to a wrestling school and learn how to do it properly so you can get booked and entertain people who actually want to see you. It's really not difficult to do. This is a real suggestion I'm giving you since you seem to have a passion for it and I know that at least in Melbourne (it can't be too different there) anyone who wants to be a wrestler can be, and audiences are more encouraging than people on the internet who don't even like wrestling.

Well I don't remember saying i was a Legend. But feel free to quote me if I do. And I'm certainly not like 99% of the other backyard feds. We dont do barbwire bats and ladders and stupid stuff like that. And we don't do a bunch of flippy floppy stuff just for eye candy sake. We do take pride in being wrestlers. I've been watching wrestling since I was 5 years old. That's 24 years of experience. Everyone else involved also has a passion for wrestling.

Glad you mentioned CHIKARA. I love them. They have alot of comedy stuff in their shows but they also have a roster loaded with talent. We at POBYW should be so lucky as to be compared with CHIKARA.

And you're right, there ARE people who enjoy watching us. All the comments on the eps have been pretty positive. A few crits here and there but they aren't mean spirited like most of the stuff posted in SF about it.

But anyway like I said, I won't post something for every ep. I'll just start a thread for it when we have a few more eps under our belt. And I'll just update it on there instead of here. Thanks for watching, I'm sure some of you have read this thread went and watched and enjoyed it. It's too bad the more vocal base of SF is the ones who troll and post insults cuz they have nothing better to do. :D

shit I didn't realise you had 24 years of experience. That is one more year than Sting. That is as long as Jay Lethal has existed so you must be way better than him. I underestimated you. Anyway I wanted to say goodbye to you Rone, this is my last post on songfight. I've been watching Rambo 2 and 3 since I was 5 so I thought I'd better join the special forces since I'm wasting all my experience. I'm going to miss you but I have to go, I take great pride in being a green beret.
