I own albums by both John Tesh and Yanni. I win ALL the "guilty pleasure" contests as a result.

Even my copy of Manilow's Even Now album on vinyl can't compete with Tesh and Yanni.
In related news, I found a $2 turntable at a yard sale, and it works great. Been listening to the few LPs I've hung on to over the years. I have some 45s too, but I don't have one of those little yellow fallout-shelter-symbol thingies for the center hole.

Also, I get made fun of a lot for my love of Billy Joel. But I probably wouldn't be writing songs if not for the Piano Man. Just sayin'.

Re: September 23rd, 2009
Yeah, outside of New York, Mr. Joel is generally seen as sappy, immature, and pretty much passé. And most of his really big hits are, by and large, my least favorite of his songs ("Uptown Girl" makes me cringe, and "Still Rock'n'Roll to Me" has lost a lot of its immediacy, just to name a couple), but a lot of those minor hits and deep album cuts reveal a craftsman who really knew how to write a song!inevitableguy wrote:Made fun of? Still, say it in public outside of Long Island, and you get a wedgie. My wife abhors the guy, and last time I had the opportunity to go see him in concert, the only person I could find to go with was my sister-in-law. (Not that she's not cool - I mean obviously she's cool, she loves Billy Joel...)

I do not believe I have ever made fun of people for liking Billy Joel, although I can't stand his music, myself. Especially not "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," mostly because when I lived in NYC it seemed like everywhere I went I'd always hear that song playing. It definitely played EVERY SINGLE TIME I went to the laundromat, anyway.
