WWYD(OTW) 9/26-27/09

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

i just got back from san francisco. i was up taking care of some business in SOMA (that's south of market for everyone but fluffy) and decided to head down to ATT park to check out a couple innings of the giants game. they have this open area behind the right field fence where you can watch the game for free (through the fence of course). as i was was getting ready to leave, a woman was yelling "anyone want a free ticket?" so i said sure, and she was giving away a handful of tickets to the poor shlubs like me watching the game from the outside looking in.

and they were great seats! lower level box, and in the shade!! $36 face value ticket for free! so i didn't feel bad splurging on a couple anchor steams. :)

weather was gorgeous in the city, unseasonably warm, but driving back down the peninsula to santa cruz, it was a friggin furnace. had to be high nineties all the way back (no AC) but once i hit santa cruz, the temp dropped like 30 degrees. gotta love it. the natural AC,

Next time you're in town you should give me a buzz. I'm usually free for hanging out or whatever.

yeah, it was all last minute and unplanned, but i will probably be back up in the city next weekend for this:

hardly strictly bluegrass

you planning on going? or for that matter, any other songfight folks going? it's only the BEST musical festival in the country. :)

not sure which day or days i'm going yet. still need to look at the schedule more.

i can shoot you me cell # and we can try to hook up in speedway meadow. it will be a huge crush of humanity but it's easy to hook up by cell. or tweet.

I had not heard of that. Looks like a lot of fun, and the fact it's free don't hurt none.

I'd complain about it being a pain for me to get to Golden Gate Park but you're coming from dang ol' Santa Cruz so I'm sure spending an hour on Muni isn't really that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

you could ride your bike. you know the squiggle? it cuts through duboce triangle and avoids the hills. from lower haight, take page or waller and just jump on the panhandle bike path and boogie.

plus, i just wanted to use the phrase "duboce triangle" in it's actual context. :)

I just got back from camping for 3 days! I haven't been in years. I was kind of excited. On a lake, took the waverunners and muh boat. We did some wake boarding, fishing, cooked over fire, made smores, you know, all that. It was beautiful, the sun was shining, I was with my fam. Everything was great except one tiny little thing. We were camping.

Fluffy, did you do all the background music and use a vocoder(?) program on the voice?

I primarily used autotune but also did some stuff with vocoders to get a variety of effects, as well as delay processing and such. I added all the music myself, although a lot of it is stock loops.

Usually for the vocals in my stupid YouTube remixes I just slap on an autotune and maybe a harmonized autotuner (where I pitch-shift the voice before autotuning it, making it form chords with the original voice within the autotune scale) but this time I decided to put a bit more work into it since the original video was so dang long and I didn't want the vocal treatment to get boring.

My crappy bike's busted. Again. I gave up on it several months ago. I've been thinking of getting a scooter or something.

I did happen to catch an Austin City Limits about last year's festival (that my TiVo helpfully recorded as a suggestion, how convenient!) and I wish I'd known about it last year because it had BELA FLECK. I love Bela Fleck. He is awesome. Bluegrass-jazz fusion at its absolute finest.
