Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

"Yo Jamey Johnson, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Ross Durand has one of the best Pink Shirt songs of all time. One of the best Pink Shirt songs of all time!”

So, this Taylor Swift girl. She can play guitar, she can sing pretty good, she's adorable and she's only 15. Amazing, she must be a prodigy! Because that's impossible!

I'm not a country music fan, but I like some of it. They've been really trying to cross over with all the country pop. Not a new thing, just SO much of it lately. And I'll be honest, it's nice to see pop music with singers and musicians that can actually sing and play. So if nothing else, it's bringing a certain level of talent back to hit music.

But back to Taylor Swift for a minute. It's got to just gnaw at the seasoned country singers seeing her winning all of the "best of" awards. She's pretty good, but the best? Sure, it's easy to get away with the best video of the year or best album of the year because of record sales. Every headline points out that she's the youngest to receive this or the youngest to receive that. How much of the the whole Taylor Swift best of stuff is just to hurry up before she turns 16 or just gets older? Is it all just pay offs and back scratching to streamline this girl to the top? And how does she feel knowing that? Do "her people" have her so brainwashed that she honestly believes she's the best?

And Darius (Hooty) Rucker being only the second black country artist to win a major CMA next to Charlie Pride in the CMA history. Wow, in it's history? Not many African American rednecks out there apparently, lol. Knock'um dead, Hooty!

Question of the Day: Whether or not Taylor Swift is the best country singer right now or not, how do you feel about her? Does she deserve the awards she is getting? Do you even give a crap? Is it good for country music in general, so that's all that matters?
You know what, f**k that! I'm sick of hearing about Taylor Swift already, lol.
How do you feel about Darius Rucker making the cross over to country music? If you've heard his "learning to live" album, what do you think?

Ok, a little Matt Costa for the Thursday video of the day to cleanse our brains of all that identical sounding country music.

I liked when Rosanne Cash was asked last month what she thinks of Taylor Swift, Darius Rucker and other popular country artists, and she said: "I don't think I've ever heard their music!" Ohhhh, Johnny brought her up good :)

I've only heard one of her songs and none of Darius'. And I think she won for "Best Entertainer" so that leaves things pretty wide open.

QotD: No idea. I'm not into Country Pop music. I do like good ol' fashioned Country Western music, but not much of what they call Country today qualifies. :\

I don't listen to very much country music (even though that's probably what most of my songs sound like), but when I do, I sure notice the pitch correction on the vocals. Not as blatant as Cher, but still, a lot...

Although I think the worst offender right now is that show "Glee." I mean, I realize you can't have them sounding like a real, actual high school glee club if you want people to watch, but I do wish they'd back off the pitch correction a bit...

DRC: Two weeks ago, I was granted a promotion at work. I've spent the intervening days in training for my new position, and the final exam is tomorrow. I'm not worried at all. I hit the floor again on Monday, and start a new schedule - one that doesn't involve me staying until 10pm. YAY!

My new schedule will have me going to work from 7-4 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 9-3 on Saturday. I think to make it an even 40 hours, they're going to give me half-hour lunches on the weekdays or something. It's not ideal, but it's WAY better than my 1-10 schedule. I'll probably shoot for something like 8-5 or 9-6 once I have a little more seniority.

I have no opinion whatsoever on the QotD.

If it's not Slim Dusty - it isn't country.
