I don't know whose song you're doing, but I'm intrigued. I vote for the string quartet, even if it sucks!

I vote for your string quartet too. Actually, I'm planning to write one today as the accompaniment to "I Will Be Acquitted", which was a cappella before. Mine will be keyboarded in, though. Oh well!

My voice is still screwed up from this cold, so I think I'll just have to go all the way and not do any vocals - even the singers will be done as violins. Hee. Hopefully it will come together.

Mine is now at a state where I would be okay with submitting it. I will of course continue to work on it more until the deadline though. I hope my recipient appreciates what I've done to this song, or at least my sense of humor.

I'm obviously slipping in my procrastinator duties. I'm been done with this thing since shortly after it was announced. Hell I even made a video for it.

You boys get cracking :)

All I have left is the vocal, and my voice is returning after several days of laryngitis. Got a couple of serious notes to reach, so look out and stand back!

I have done three of the four and god willing should get them all done and in on time, especially if tomorrow turns out to be the snow day in london that everyone's predicting ...

what's the etiquette for multiple giftings? Do I send all four mp3s? Or four links? or choose one and link externally to the other three? Many people couldn't get through one song sung by me so forcing them to judge four is perhaps a little ... callous.

(ps they're all awesome, naturally, so don't ask me to pick my 'favourite')

Have any of The Powers That Be even decided how and what we'll be submitting, anyway? Are we just self-hosting this year or what?

Heh. Shock factor will be when I submit a Wolfman Jack vocal if my voice doesn't get better. Hell, that might be an improvement, but I'd rather go the usual tortuous route.

Well, poo. It looks like I won't make the deadline. I'm well underway, have some tracks recorded and everything. But I've had almost no time to record this week, and on Saturday I am leaving the country for two weeks.

No excuses. I should have it done already. But I assure y'all I have every intention of finishing this before the month is up. I will NOT stiff my giftee completely.

Somehow I believe you can do a great Wolfman impression. I happened on a 2008 recording of yours called "paper thin" and holy F%^%&, scared the shit outta me :)

I'll probably be working on this until the last minute (no surprise there). However, I really intend to have keys and bass, and maybe drums, in the song. I'm just not sure my keyboard skills will be even close to par in the next 5 days, so don't hold your breath for keys/drums.

But, the big kicker is I'm doing a sort of mash-up with two of the songs (for a multitude of reasons). I'll be using the lyrics and chorus chords from the first song but will use the basic chords from the chorus of the second song for the verse in the first song. Follow me? lol The result is a "Wages version" of the first song that has a completely different melody for the verse parts. I hope the recipient sees the genius in this rather than disgust. :D

There is a precedent for this. Last year, the BeWells did just that, with brilliant results.

EDIT: Oh, also, my song is coming along, I think it will be done by the deadline...
