I'm psyched about the band stuff.. should be a lot of fun. But I'd also like to attempt a solo song or two if possible, for the experience (need to prepare for my wedding later this year :)).

Regarding out-of-townage, I'll be coming from Green Bay (a 5-6 hour drive, per MapQuest), but can come a day early (or early in the morning) if I know the magic dates/times.

(Stupid question #1 omitted, found it. April 2. Wheee.)

Stupid question #2: If a member(s) of Group X helps perform Group X's super mysterious title song, does that disqualify them from participating in Group Y's super mysterious title song?

Stupid question #3: I don't have any amps. Well, I have two 10W amps, which I'm guessing won't be enough. Will I need to buy one, or will these be on-site? What cords/accessories do I need? I heard threats of BYO-mic, which I can manage.

Stupid question #4: What hearing-protection gear should a newbie like me bring along for stage use? As much as I'd enjoy the musical inspiration that tinnitus brings, I'm not quite ready for that.

Thanks!

I think if you have the exact same band, one song. If you change one to many players, new band, new song.

I have a Hotrod D'Ville I am letting people use. I am pretty sure my other guitarist will let people use his.(another D'Ville) If you need more than 2 amps, you will need to bring more.
Stupid question #4: What hearing-protection gear should a newbie like me bring along for stage use? As much as I'd enjoy the musical inspiration that tinnitus brings, I'm not quite ready for that.
On stage is not as loud as in the crowd but it is still loud. I would bring some ear plugs.

Here is the list. When you form a group, please add its name to the list. I hope to get more people interested, but at this point, time will not be a factor.

*Bolio
Redmon
!Fried
*Plat
Dylan Nau
*tviyh
Hostess Mostess

How many people are bringing a full band?
* Forming All Star bands.
! Band mates coming for drink specials.

I'm willing to play rhythm guitar and do backing vocals for anyone who wants it. I probably won't be able to practice much, but I'm a quick study (especially if given a lead sheet).

Similarly, if anyone wants to back up a Hostess Mostess song, it would be fun to get some arrangements started. PM me if you have an idea.

It looks like the only full bands coming are Fried and Dylan Nau. I can't speak for dylan, but I bet he would agree, I have no ego thing with my band. You a singer? Want everyone but me... thats cool. It's about having fun!

So we have:

Redmons
Dylan Nau Band
Fried Band
Bolio and the all star band
Mostess solo/possible collab band - Hostess MIA
Plat solo time/possible collab band
tviyh no solo time/all star band and stuff.

Anyone else?

P.S. Phil, if you e-mail me flyers, I will print them and hang them at the bar two/three weeks before.

OK,
I (Dylan nau) have a band called Gold Standard and we play a bunch of my old Songfight tunes. Its a six piece band that rocks hard so bring the ear plugs. We would love to play and compete. We can play as long or as short as needed. I would also like to play with Bolios cool band that he is getting together, maybe a song or two. As far as the Redmon's, I dont know if phil has a band or not. If he needs players for either of his (and heather's) projects I would be available.

6 piece? What instruments? I have a set up for 2 guitars, bass and drum... anything else you need to bring it. Unfortunately my band barely plays my SF stuff yet. (All 4 or 5 entries) heh. My drummer likes the Redmons stuff and would play with them also.

*Well, if Jack shows up then I'd definately get up on stage!

Actually, there has been no confirmation that the Hell Yeahs are playing at Songfight MN (at least not from a member of the Hell Yeahs anyway!). But, there seems to be some interest since the list of performers has gone from

and people have been offering their musical talents to the cause (thanks for that, btw).

The only reason that I am hesitant to say for sure that the Hell Yeahs are "in" is that I am pregnant and will be HUGE by April 1st!!

I will tentatively (if that's ok... Fried said time was not an issue) throw in my hat.

I will sing (most likely sitting down!), but I'm pretty sure it would be uncomfortable for me to play bass! So, I guess the Hell Yeahs will require a bass player and a drummer (and an audience that won't mind seeing a big huge pregnant lady screaming into a microphone!).

I guess the details can be worked out later... but, yup, the Hells Yeahs are pretty much in, I suppose!

V I D E O R E C O R D A N D P O S T.

That would be awesome.

And, as it's kind of impractical, it would therefore be cool.

I wish I had the finances to fly out there, I'd gladly play drums or bass for that... as it is, I don't think I'm gonna make it happen.

Also WHOOHOOO!! on the baby news. That's awesome!! ( HAving kids is such an awesome thing... of course,as a man, it's a teensy bit easier from my perspective!!)

New Baby? Soon you will have your own band, congrats!
I didn't realize I put Redmons. But glad if you can join. As far as sitting, last minute canceling or whatever else, no problem! You do what you feel is comfortable. It is about the music but also the meet and greet. I hope to see you there.

Would you please let me know how much time you want as each group and as each individual?
Not including the SF Title fight, but add "+Title" to your time if that group or indiviual is going to enter a song. Thanks!!!

Fried 1/2 hour +Title

Dylan: 1/2 hour + title seems to be the standard. so yeah that sounds good. If we need to lengthen or shorten its all good.
Hey Fried, is this venue pretty live, do you mic any of the instruments?
or do you just use vocal mics?

Audiences can't get enough of that stuff in Brisbane. The Preg-Scream-core scene is really huge here.

Congrats on the impending new Hell Yeah!

I mic the amps and vocals. The kick drum too. Actually the only things not mic'd are the bass and everheads for the drums. There are two mono floor monitors from the board. We don't have to mic the instruments, but it makes for a much fuller sound.

**BUMP**

It's now only (about) 2 months away !!!!
  :o :o   :o :o   :o :o

This month I'll start nailin' down what the 'spontaneous band' will be doing. The FIRST thing the 'spontaneous band' is doing is coming up with a name so I don't have to keep calling it the 'spontaneous band.' (I like 'Platolio' myself but there will be more than just us 2.) :!:

yes, yes.
and once these essential things are taken care of, we can start discussing unessential stuff like what we'll be playing and etc. :D

High guys. As promised, my Events Page is up and running.

If you want to create a web page for your event I would be more than happy to link to it. Here is the event page I'm creating for the LA event.
