Keep All Your Promises
I recall the night that I first saw you
and the way that you looked in my eyes.
We swore that we would feel that way forever.
Oh, how I made you cry.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
Walking down the streets of Lawrence, Kansas
proud to have my baby on my arm.
A southern boy could catch his death of cold there
Oh, how you kept me warm.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
(solo)
Somewhere on the road just after midnight
the radio plays our favorite song.
Realize home is where I should be.
Why did I take so long?
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
and the way that you looked in my eyes.
We swore that we would feel that way forever.
Oh, how I made you cry.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.
I'll start keeping promises to you now.
You keep all your promises to me.

Keep All Your Promises
caught in a lie
hands stained black
you offer advice
then steer off track
losing the road
you hold the wrong map
plotting the course
who can you distract
keep all of your promises
hear what the shaman says
to yourself be true
bouncing a check
you're on the take
no integrity
now see your fate
behind every counter
your picture stays
now the whole world
sees your face
keep all of your promises
hear what the shaman says
to yourself stay true
amassing a fortune
rising to power
goals are reflections
heroes or cowards
hands stained black
you offer advice
then steer off track
losing the road
you hold the wrong map
plotting the course
who can you distract
keep all of your promises
hear what the shaman says
to yourself be true
bouncing a check
you're on the take
no integrity
now see your fate
behind every counter
your picture stays
now the whole world
sees your face
keep all of your promises

amassing a fortune

Keep All Your Promises (tuned down 1/2 step)
VERSE 1
Em
you spread hope like a disease
Am
then you're gone with the breeze
Bm Am Em
moving on to dedicate yourself
to being a photo on a shelf
CHORUS
Bm-Bm7-Em
don't talk to me, even if you change,
I know you can't, so just finish your fade,
A Am Em
and keep all your promises to yourself
VERSE 2
oh the dreams you've laid waste
explanations can't erase
not surprising, you don't care
in a blink, you may disappear
CHORUS
G7-D7 x3
because you can't keep your word if all else fails
which makes it so absurd that I derailed
you must realize this is all on you,
Am
and everyone around you
C7
you make it true while....

Re: Keep All Your Promises
The broken toys of childhood
I could understand
They were just pretend, and I guess so were my dreams
When they fell apart
Though it broke my heart
I thought it wasn't what it seemed
And so I could abandon
What I once held dear
And never shed a tear, and just ignore the pain
How was I to know
When I let them go
That they would return to me again?
Keep all your promises to yourself
Whisper them softly before you sleep
No longer a child or a broken toy
To yourself all your promises keep
How I wish I had remembered
When I took your hand
That the world of a child is never what it seems
But I took for real
What is now revealed
As the broken promise of my dreams
Keep all your promises to yourself
Whisper them softly before you sleep
No longer a child or a broken toy
To yourself all your promises keep
I could understand
They were just pretend, and I guess so were my dreams
When they fell apart
Though it broke my heart
I thought it wasn't what it seemed
And so I could abandon
What I once held dear

Re: Keep All Your Promises
ladies and gentlemen
it is with great pleasure
that i take this opportunity
to speak to you today
we have come a long way in this journy
and we all know it has not been easy
we have faced trials and hardships
and it would be a lie to say that
none of us have remained unharmed
but i promise you
that if we press on together
with kindred spirts
and like minds
we will achieve our goals
and benefit from our hard work
(but seriously guys,
how much can you really trust politics?)
Ooo, you broke all your promises
Can you tell me
what went wrong?
you should have known
that we'd be watching you
Ooo, don't forget what your mamma said
she was wise but
now she's gone
would she be proud of what
you're doing here?
For once I'd like to see
Someone who's proud and Bold
and doesn't just do what he's told
But now it's clear to see
the one who leads
is just a pig
standing on his hind feet
OOoo, Keep your promises
Wooaah.

Re: Keep All Your Promises
when your promise then becomes a lie
people start to wonder why they
trusted you at all
to break an oath is not alright
cause a contract is a societal right
for special kinds of needs
and every time i close my eyes
i hear those good words of advice
momma said
keep all your promises
eat all your vegetables
and don't talk back to me
even when you're having a bad day
you've got to fight it off
and find a way
you've got to find the light
and find a way
if agree to pursue this dream of mine
i'd help myself and promise to try
but if i don't set a clear deadline
i'll bide my time until i die

Re: Keep All Your Promises
Keep all your Promises
by Ross Durand
Well there's bodies piling up
In the middle of town
and there's no end in sight
And you're nowhere to be found
And I remember something bout a rainbow
That you sent once before
A promise that you wouldn't do this kinda thing no more
But you make the ground shake
You bring rains with the wind
And reverend Falwell* says that it's all cause of things we did
But I remember something bout a rainbow
That you sent once before
A promise that you wouldn't do this kinda thing no more
But promises are only as good as the one who makes em
And I ain't really sure there was really any promise at all
Cuz the rain brings the flood and the rainbow just comes with the sunshine
and none of the requires any kind of god at all
So I guess we're on our own
As things fall apart
But they praying in the streets and there's a world of broken hearts
And still there's something bought a Rainbow
An image in the sky
And it just disappears when the sky gets dry -yeah it just disappears
When the sky gets dry
*one risk of writing fast - I meant Pat Robertson, although Falwell said similar things in the past.

Chthonic Youth - Keep All Your Promises
You know I loved the way that you kept me on the edge of my seat
I wanted so much to believe
Every time that you looked into my eyes
With all your lies, lies, lies, lies...
Taking for granted all the times
Comforting phrases masked decline
Action can't be misconstrued
Could you not keep all your promises?
Keep all your promises?
It must have been too much for you
Keep all your promises.
Keep all your promises.
And through that half cracked smile I see you weaving wicked words of deciet
How could I have been so naive
When you had looked me straight in the eyes
And told me nothing but lies, lies, lies, lies...
Taken for granted all the time
If only you had walked the line
Action can't be misconstrued
Could you not keep all your promises?
Keep all your promises?
It must have been too much for you
Keep all your promises.
Keep all your promises.
You said that you'd always be true.
You said that you'd always be true.
But... no.
You know I loved the way that you kept me on the edge of my seat

Keep All Your Promises - Suckweasel
You said we should and so we did
I swore I'd always lift the lid
But then you went and ran and hid
Hid away
You built it up, then tore it down
Then took the first train out of town
What did I do to make you frown
What did I say?
You said forever when you looked into my eyes
You ask me what I want, and this is my reply:
Keep all your promises
Keep all your promises
Keep all your promises to me
You said you would until we died
But you never even really tried
You laughed at all the tears I cried
But I stayed
I followed you, I tracked you down
You know I never mess around
And as I put you in the ground,
this is what I say:
Keep all your promises
Keep all your promises
Keep all your promises to me
When I said, "till death", I meant it
All my words were true
Now as I wash the carpets out
I say these words to you:
Kept all my promises
Kept all my promises
Kept all my promises to you
You said we should and so we did
I swore I'd always lift the lid
But then you went and ran and hid
Hid away
You built it up, then tore it down

Re: Keep All Your Promises
We stood outside, you and I
Holding hands together
You swore to me, cross your heart,
You'd love me forever
You'd love me forever, You'd love me forever
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
But now you're dead and gone, and I'll be moving on
To someone with a much better car
We had our fun, but now it's done
The funeral's tomorrow
Hopefully I'll find a man who'll
Help me with my sorrow
He'll help me with my sorrow, help me with my sorrow
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
But now you're dead and gone, and I'll be moving on
To someone with a much bigger house
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
You sure did keep all your promises
You loved me for for your whole life
You loved me for for your whole life
You loved me, loved me, loved me, loved me, loved me
You loved me, loved me, loved me, loved me, love
Holding hands together
You swore to me, cross your heart,
You'd love me forever
You'd love me forever, You'd love me forever

Re: Keep All Your Promises
A Poem By Fie, Keep All Your Promises:
Between a blood red glass of wine and 1:00 am.
Between white sheets and a white comforter
put into the disarray of an abrupt awakening,
he found conviction.
He got out some wine,
And let his thoughts go back to January
February and the nipples are ripe, hard and red,
the beards are flourishing, rough and untrimmed,
February and he's opened his first book.
February and the wine is poured.
February and his white papers with small black print,
a profusion of accolades.
March and she is beside him in his bed,
swathed in her sheer white cotton,
March and he meditates on the wine he sips
March and he puts down his white paged books.
March and he's walking barefoot on the grass.
He pours himself another, knocks it back,
leaves the bottle open on his white granite counter.
He tightens the knot of his bathrobe, and heads out
He moves along the whitewashed wall of his house,
to the cellar door
April and his fingers are moving along the metal strings of his first guitar.
He is laughing, and he's happy.
April and they're happy.
He smashes the silver lock with a sledgehammer from the neighbor's gardening shack.
Standing at the cellar, he faces the wall,
faces the great worming pomegranate of white pipes,
and the red button, so small, so unassuming, in its center.
He smiles wanly, and presses it.
The world becomes a kaleidoscope,
in it his silver spectacles, her silver flute,
the silver lock upon the cellar, a flash of Nobel gold,
the white of cakes, of accolades, of granite,
of all the whitewashed wings of his house, of the books he cracked open in February,
The white of his lab coat in May.
The white of the mice, the checks, the down of hair on bald heads and shriveled arms.
The white of her face in February, the first day of February,
when she left a small red scrap of paper that said
"One day you'll understand why I couldn't"
The second day in February, when he realized he'd broken all his promises.
Then black, the black of the cellar, the black of the print,
the place in every brain where the two synapses connected to create the image of him,
the blackness of every invention erased, the black shadow of every possession as he made his way,
and lastly, he, himself, a pile of black ash.
So small, and so unassuming.

Notes for reviews: "Stronger vocal" means several things at once. Tighter timing, more confident pitch, arranging in your range.

And you may never find all of the keys
Keep all your troubles and fears to yourself
And you’ll only get worse by degrees
You never give up and you never give out on your
Word is what you always say
But actions speak louder, they all speak about how
You will be 火影 some day
And the love that you feel will be real enough
And we’ll be right there at your side
The love that you feel, it’s real enough
And I say “しょうがない”, and I say “しょうがない”
Keep all your promises even if it costs you
More than you think you can brave
‘Cause some words when spoken are more than a token
And some bonds are worth it to save
So never give up and don’t ever give in to
The sadness that we often do
The more that you shine now, the more that we find out
That we are all (pause) just like you
And the love that you feel will be real enough
And we’ll be right there at your side
The love that you feel, it’s real enough
And I say “しょうがない”, and I say “しょうがない”
And the love that you feel will be real enough
And we’ll be right there at your side
The love that you feel, it’s real enough
And I say “しょうがない”, and I say “しょうがない”
