This b*stard umlaut

Post by furrypedro »

This is probably one for the admin really, but how can I get rid of the umlaut from my username?

I stupidly added it during the fad, and then somehow the board settings were changed so I couldn't change it back, and now I've got to copy and paste it from a previous post whenever I want to log in on a comp other than my own because I don't know how to do umlauts on english keyboards.

Please help.

I have the same problem, but I didn't bring it up because I was ashamed of my idiocy.

Fürrypedro and Reïst (and Märk) -- Have you tried ALT codes?

http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/inte ... dealt.html

Hold the ALT key, and then on the numeric keypad, type 0252, or 0239, or 0228, respectively.

If you used o with an umlaut, you may be out of luck. When I try it, it makes the "Post a reply" page expire.

Yeah, I know the 0239 - but it doesn't work on my laptop, which is a hassle whenever I'm not at home.

On my Windows computer I use an AutoHotkey script that contains these lines:

Code: Select all

!a::Send ä
!+a::Send Ä
!o::Send ö
!+o::Send Ö
!u::Send ü
!+u::Send Ü
!s::Send ß
"!" stands for the right alt key; "+" stands for the shift key. Works for me.
