Hello My Old Heart
HELLO MY OLD HEART / King Arthur
Reunion committee
Noting this year that it's been another ten
Have all gotten busy
Tryin' to get the old gang back together again
All the winners and losers
Wondrin' how they'll explain where they've been.
Hello, my old heart
We're back at the gym,
We're still looking at her,
She's still looking at him.
Are you ready to be
Broken apart
One more time?
Hello, my old heart.
The ones who enjoyed
Seem convinced that everyone should
The ones who succeeded
Thinkin' this is my chance to look good
While the new unemployed
Sayin' I wouldn't go back if I could
(chorus)
Please make all the name tags
Easy to read
Because the faces have all
Become strangers to me.
Hello, my old heart
We're back at the school
And those who still can
Are still tryin' to look cool
Are you ready to be
Broken apart
One more time?
Hello, my old heart.

Re: Hello My Old Heart
i went super literal here, and envisioned a sort of steampunk, self-made frankenstein.
hello my old heart
by the idiot kings
piece by piece and bit by bit
i'm reborn almost weekly with every new piece fit
i told the demon that i would outlive him
but with this fragile body the outlook was grim
so i began to replace the parts that grew weak,
the organs that failed, and the bones that would creak
god can't hold a candle
with science taking his place
he wouldn't even recognize me
because i'm on my third face
i'd throw the old pieces away to the trash
or in the fireplace, reduce them to ash
but the one piece i kept through every year
is my old heart, which i always keep near
in a jar of formaldehyde, toxic and clear
i'm reminded of the mortality that i fear
god can't hold a candle
science has taken his place
as long as i have wax and clockworks,
i will have taken his place.
with this waltham watch in my chest,
i often talk to the original, still not the best
"hello, my old heart", i say with a sneer
"your finite beat is something i no longer fear
as long as i remember to reach in and wind
my new little heart will last till the end of time."
as long as i have wax and clockworks,
i will survive in this place
there's no longer air to breathe or food to eat,
but i will survive alone in this place.

"Hello My Old Heart"
Jon Eric
Hello my old abandoned heart
I fear that I forgot you after riding on the BART
Since then it's been an ordeal, that much is plain to see
Just think of how much worse you'd have been with me
Hello my old abandoned heart
I quite ashamed to see that you've still got that scar
Before you start your poor and desperate embittered plea
Just think of how much worse you'd have been with me
When I think about what happened
my stomach gets a lump
But you keep doin' what you always did
Ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump
Hello my old abandoned heart
Life has not been easy on us since we grew apart
But by being somewhere else, you dodged a lot of misery
I don't mean to sound callous, but you just have to believe
Believe me when I tell you that I really set you free
Because think of how much worse you'd have been
You'd have to do the whole thing over again
Just think of how much worse you'd have been
...with me

Re: Hello My Old Heart
SOCKPUPPPPPPPET
So I was on my way to some dumb thing
Thinking about what I should sing
When suddenly a pain gave me quite a start
So I rushed on down to good ol' St. Luke's
And what they said, it was quite a fluke
They told me "boy, you're gonna need a brand new heart"
So I'm lying there on the hospital bed
Fillin' out forms, didn't read what they said
All I wanted was to be okay
They put me out and I came to
They said that I was good as new
And then they only sent me on my way
Now the thing I didn't know was that
The doctor, he was a bit of a quack
And well, you probably remember what came next
You know that big ol' angry blob?
The thing that ate that bicycle mob?
That thing is what had come out from my chest
Seems the doctor's experiment
Wasn't with a good intent
He took my heart and zapped it with a ray
It mutated into a thing
that wanted to eat everything
And that's what had escaped the other day
Nobody knew just what to do
But I think that I had a clue
So I found it hanging out at Golden Gate
I told it, "Hello, my old heart,
You're doin' it wrong. For a start,
You're supposed to be about the love, not Haight.
"Please stop hurting everyone,
We all just want to have some fun,
But what you're doing just isn't that cool.
"I didn't want us to be apart,
But what you're doing just breaks my heart,
and I miss the good ol' days when that was you."
It turned around and looked at me,
And thumped out an apology.
Well I think it did; it's pretty hard to tell.
Anyway, we're best friends now,
But it occurs to me I'm not sure how
It managed to get itself across Fell.

Hello My Old Heart
by Naked Philosophy
I lost my little finger
It didn't take long to replace
Shortly after that
They completely altered my face
They built me out of metal
They built me out of steel
Parts of me are fake
But parts of me are real
Hello my old heart
I know it's been a while
But I don't really miss you
'Cos now I'll never die
Now I'll never die
Now I'll never die

Re: Hello My Old Heart
By Abjure!
-------------
I had a sweet little thing
Big old big brown eyes
Love positively shining
As I lay between her bovine thighs
I thought we were forever
She found me as a boy
And left me as a man
Never played it coy
------------
Then one day in an old pawn shop
There she was, just hanging out
I just had to have her
So I lay my money down
------------
Hello my old heart
It's nice to see you again
I'd like to lay you again
On the floor of my living room
Hello my old heart
You had such beautiful skin
At least you'll always have that
On the floor of my living room
---------------
I had a sweet little thing
Squeezed me so damn tight
Almost 'til I stopped breathing
Itʼs never been so right
Iʼd feed her from my hand
Canʼt imagine a better lover
Sheʼd dislocate her jaw at will (!)
I never wanted another
-----------------
But everything has to end, I guess
And our love was doomed it seems
She tried to eat a bowling ball
And my darling ceased to be
------------------
Hello my old heart
It's nice to see you again
So soft and supple
Against my calloused skin
As I walk this trail of life,
I look down at my feet
And think of you each time
I take another step down the street
---------------
People might judge me
I can smell their jealousy
They never understood our love
They'll never know how perfect it can be
Doin' it with like, cows and stuff
It's awesome
-----------------
Spent some time by the river
To catch a little tail
Older fellas worked bare chested
I went without where things are pale
Finally I found her
I'd almost given up
When I felt her flesh around me
All I ever hoped it would be
------------------
Hello my old heart
Nice to meet you finally
Don't waste time being nice to me
My lungs ain't what they used to be
Hello my old heart
My bottom-dwelling beauty
Show me how you love me
Be the last thing I ever see

Re: Hello My Old Heart
Hello My Old Heart by McCalum
I'm sitting here looking at somebody
and I think that that somebody is actually me
at least, one would assume so
because I'm looking in a mirror and the mirror's looking back at me
if I squint and look closely, I can sortof make out
somebody I recognize
but oh I've come so far, it's hard to tell
if this me is really me or if this me is only my disguise
so I turn to the old zen koan
what was my original face?
I figure maybe I can find me in those I've known
if I can't find me in physical space
I'm sitting here looking at the first song I ever wrote
and it's really really really really weird now to think that I wrote it
but now I'm looking at the more recent songs and back to the first one
and it's weirder still to see just how often I practically quote it
Hello my old heart
you're hiding in this song
you're not as far away as I thought at the start
you've been here all along
Hello my old selves
the ones I used to be
and I laugh at what one finds when one delves
into the mystery that is me
it's amazing how the memories
come back at a smell or sound
I don't need a time machine to travel back
I just have to look around, and find
some old CDs
my favorites when they were new
they have the power to take me back
to who I was when they were first listened to
Hello my old heart
you're in all of these songs
you'll be there 'til deafness do us part
you've been there my whole life long
Hello my old loves
the ones it was better to lose
but though I'm happy with the way that things are now
I still like remembering you
Hello my old heart
you're in all of my songs
I don't quite recall putting you there
but you seem like you belong
Hello my old heart
you turned into the one I have now
leading along the path to get here
without me quite knowing how
I'm sitting here looking at somebody

Hello My Old Heart
By Steve Durand
I have had my share
Of bad relationships
My emotions run amok
And take me for a trip
So I have a new plan
Before I'm in too deep
I'll engage my brain
And think before I leap
This has served me well
And saved me some regrets
It's working out so far
But it's not perfect yet
'Cause when it comes to you
I just can't be smart
It's goodbye my new head
Hello my old heart
Hard as I might try
I just can't think straight
My chest begins to pound
And I break out in a sweat
I only think of you
I seem to be obsessed
Do you think of me too
It's anybody's guess
When my mind is gone
I can't avoid my fate
My use of intellect
Seems to be a waste
'Cause when it comes to you
I just can't be smart
It's goodbye my new head
