Am I really first? If I missed an already-existing thread for this fight, someone point out the error of my ways, and I'll delete this one. Anyways...
The Middle Part
by Jon Eric
The middle part drags til the ending
Your little heart flags when it's bending
The spittle starts sagging and wending
Its way to your lap
The middle part bores when you're Sleeping
Your little heart snores when you're dreaming
The riddle starts pouring with meaning
But still there's a gap
'Cause late at night, nights when I stay with you
Time goes drifting glacier slow
Gone are days when I held out for hope that you would improve
Now I just watch you go
Watch you go
Watch you go
The middle part aches when you near it
Your little heart breaks, so you fear it
The fiddle starts shaking, you hear it
Strings nearly snap
The middle part ends, and it makes you
Wish it were back

The Middle Part
By Bachelor Police
We found this place pristine
empty white-washed walls
numerous memories yet to fill these barren halls
I missed the middle part
When did we begin?
Can we start again?
Can we start again?
We left that place in ruins
burned it down I'm sure
smoldering ashes still fall from her hair
igniting on the floor
I missed the middle part
When did this all end?
Can I start again?
Can I start again?

The Middle Part
King Arthur
I remember talkin' to her on the telephone
Makin' out on her couch 'til her momma got home
As soon as we'd hear that key in the door
We'd slide to the sides, twelve inches or more.
Momma looking in on us all afternoon
While we watched Merv Griffin or some dumb cartoon
Each end of the sofa, a thundering heart
But nothing going on in the middle part.
(No action allowed in the middle part)
Saturday nights, we'd find a movie to see,
She'd sit in my lap up in the balcony
Hands would wander and lips connect,
But these days a trip to the cineplex,
Means Lisa, Mommy, Tim, Dad, Bill
'Cause if any two kids can fight, they will
I swear it wasn't like this back at the start
But this is life as we know it in the middle part.
(Never thought it would be like this in the middle part)
She used to squeeze up close in my pickup truck,
Made me feel like such a man
Now there's a console in between the bucket seats
In our big beige minivan
Back when we were still newlyweds
We'd snuggle up double in a single bed,
But like urban sprawl, it's a natural thing
Twin size, full size, queen size, king.
She discovered I sweat, I discovered she snored
So now I'm by the window and she's by the door
And at three in the morning, if somebody should (sound effect)
We blame it on the dog in the middle part.
(Blame it on the big dog, sleeping in the middle,
Blame it on the big dog, sleeping in the middle,
Blame it on the big dog, sleeping in the middle part)

The Middle Part - roymond
(for Dr. Karen Woo)
Had a dress made of silk, it's in fashion
Might need a change or two I imagine
Out in the rose garden, I gently sweat
I see my tortoise friend, he lumbers by, I bet
The butterflies are turning tricks upon the petals
You see there's ten of us against the world
There is no flag to be unfurled
And draped upon this box of pearls
We've got to fight into the night of blindness
to cure the world
I've got a job, a love and a passion
I've gone to take part in a mission
I bet that no one knows just why
I think that no one knows but I
I got a reason to go and try
to shape my vision
Ten of us against the world
There is no flag to be unfurled
And draped upon this box of pearls
We've got to fight into the night of blindness
to cure the world
To cure the world
This is the part it seems so endless
This is the part it lasts forever
And this is the only part you'll know
Until the end

Re: The Middle Part
(Moses Made) The Middle Part
Josh Millard
And the pharaoh says
I want you outta my town
NIMBYgyptian with a with a capital N
You know those plagues and locusts
Don't do anything for the housing market
So they take off
But then the deal goes south
The pharaoh sends a bunch of his men
And it's rock-and-a-hard-place
Chariots closing and the sea imposing
And the Jews say
You with the beard and the staff
You think maybe you could give us a hand
And Moses made the middle part
And through the muddy gap they trod
And then he closed it up again
And those Egyptians went to God
---
I'm really not thrilled with these; I needed lyrics this morning and this what came out by brute force, trying to build a bit of story around the one line I've been sitting on all week, the first line of the chorus. I like the idea and feel like I could make something a little more solid out of it but I just didn't get it there.

Re: The Middle Part
Remember the rooms where you all would sing
The walks in leaves or evening when it's raining
The aimless car and the passenger seat
The places to go that you hadn't been
Look at the glow in the evening at home
The bad news that came but you can't afford to go
The things you would change if you had known
The distance between where you are and what you hoped
Believe it was better initially
Believe it will be eventually
But the middle part remains troubling
Of course there were beliefs and exes and anxieties
And there will be people and money and mortality
But the future has to be better so we keep going
I wish I could see the good while it's happening
Believe it was better initially
Believe it will be eventually
But the middle part remains troubling
---
Not my finest work, but not my worst...
