Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
I don't want to make any promises, but I plan on having a stiffed song done tomorrow, or Sunday... Should I just send it in or link it here? It may not be the most beautiful thing, and I'm guessing it will sound like a lot of my other music, so I don't want that to be someones gift if they weren't stuck with me in the first place, but I also figure that anything that isn't complete sh*t is better than nothing. Any objections?

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
Ok, slackers. Here's an updated list of the stiffed, annotated. I've noted Stiffees whose Stiffers have spoken up. I am operating under the impression that those folks will eventually get their gift. For everyone else, I've listed their song choices. I think it's safe to consider it "open-season" on these tunes. I think I might sift through the list this weekend.
And someone should cover one of my choices because the songs are awesome and so am I.

Tomski -Glenn and Rachael
Kevin Savino-Riker
1. Silvergun Superman - Stone Temple Pilots
2. Heal Over - KT Tunstall
3. Desperation Song - Carbon Leaf

I actually changed that one at the last moment, because the Tok Pisin lyrics were hard to find.
Replaced it in a later post with:

Anti types in purty cuhlerzzz.
I'm not necessarily requesting the long version of "Love Like Blood." That's there because my original post had two different YT links in it.anti-m wrote: Albatross

Oh yay! Thank you so much! Isn't it a great song? Your laid-back solo is a very nice touch. Excellent work, sir!BBABM wrote:Anti-m... heres one for you!

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
It is a great song, never heard of the artist before, reminds me of lucero (the band covered for me) a little. I know it sounds a little slapped together, and the vocals are a little too distorted, but hopefully it's better than nothing.

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
Finally made it through all the submissions. Everyone did an AMAZING job. A special thanks to Johnny Cashpoint and Andy Balham for a great cover of my request. And another thank you to Deetak for your positive critique. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm a sucker for a good melody, and thought it would be a fun one to make more ballad-esque. Congrats to everyone!!!

BBABM: The vocals were a little distorted, but I really enjoyed that. Well done.

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
thank you very much! i was surprised myself how easily, and quickly i was able to pick it up.
as for the vocals...yeah, im still learning to tweak my levels, the distortion was supposed to be much less noticeable, and i was really using it for the gain to try to counteract the massive amount of compression i had to use... you cant really tell but i was yelling half the lyrics. im learning more and more about recording everyday, and trying not to repeat the mistakes i am always making

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
So for the people who are feeling "weighed down by the source material" (boy do I wish I could use that excuse at my day job), why not take on some of the other stiffees' selections, then?

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
File under: Sloppy, but it's the thought that counts. Happy GOM, Albatross! It's Too Late - Jim Carroll Band I think I may have requested this one before as well. A long time favorite.
Note: I can't believe that I remembered how to link and label this properly. I've forgotten how to do quotes and other things. ANYWAY, I hope to cover another gift or two, but it may take a week or more.

Re: The 8th Annual Gift of Music
You rule completely and utterly. That is fantastic, thank you.
Will be gone all weekend, but I may be inclined to take a stab at a stiffee dittie after I get back. No promises, though.
