I forgot my stupid generated password again, so I asked for a password reset again, and got:

Try it now. I don't get an error, although it looks like I don't really get an email either. Maybe it's just taking a while...?

OK, done, your old account is gone. Feel free to sign up with Twitter now since you seem to be in the target audience for that functionality (can't manage another password).
Next I'm going to make these new features look better on the Jukebox, then I'll be rolling them into rate.jonathanmann.net and SomeSongs.

I am fine with managing multiple passwords, as long as I'm the one setting them and I don't have to keep them around in an easily-lost email :P

And as long as the site actually makes it possible to use and/or set one, c.f.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
Admittedly there was no "change password" feature at first. That's what you get for being on the bleeding edge, of some random dude's hobby project which has no actual other users. But I added a change password feature a looooong time ago. Also, I'm not sure how you can "easily" "lose" an email these days, what with most mail systems giving users a big enough quota to store all their mail (possibly barring mail with large attachments) and most mail systems and clients providing some way to search email.
So, as far as your "bug report" there goes, can you give any information at all about what you actually did to encounter that error? I can't reproduce it. Again, this is just my little hobby project, so maybe you tried it while I was pushing a code update. I don't have a "zero downtime" update plan in place yet...

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
I tried creating a new account with the "login by Twitter" thing. It just timed out.
Also when did you add "change password?" That was always something you were going to add eventually.
I am sure I still HAVE the emails, but finding them is a bit difficult considering I don't have IMAP access at work and don't have good search functionality on my webmail, and I'm too lazy to ssh in to my mail server to find|xargs grep them.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
It's all due to some problem trying to send email via Gmail. It used to work, then my brother changed the Java VM on his server, and SMTPS stopped working (the initial error you got) and apparently SMTP isn't working either. I won't have time to figure it out till tonight.
PS I added password change back in August.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
In possibly the biggest and most important update yet, I added some gradients, rounded corners, and drop shadows, to make the site look a little more "Web 2.0" (barf). (Of course, none of that will show up in IE.)

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
Yes. This is a little embarrassing but song and artist links that contained artist names with "+" in them weren't working, probably for a long time (ever?). That's fixed now.
I also changed the links to the official archive pages for artists to use the URL encoded artist names, same as the jukebox uses, since fluffy made those work with the official archive. So the links to the official archive pages should actually work more often.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
I'm thinking of redesigning the jukebox, with the following goals: 1) make it look more professional, 2) make it (more?) touch device friendly, and 3) move to a design that could more easily accomodate being converted to a singe-page site, where there's never a page load/reload and the mp3 player can keep playing music as you navigate around the archive. Here's a screenshot of what I've got so far in case anybody wants to provide any feedback. (That scrollbar is a JavaScript scrollbar which works in iOS/Android, and which I've already put on the jukebox recently.)

That's clean! Nice. Should the next/previous buttons be bigger? Also, perhaps a "shuffle" button would be good.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
Yes, I need new bigger better icons for next/previous, still using the tiny ones I've got now. I also will need to find a place for repeat and shuffle too. I'm thinking of putting a bar across the top of the list of songs with a menu or links for sorting them differently, and possibly including the shuffle and repeat controls there...? Not sure yet.

For the 1-2 people who might be interested, this where I'm at with the new design now.

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox
I've got the new design up just for fights. Stick "/2" in the URL to see a fight with the new design. For example:
http://sfjukebox.org/fights/2/better_than_before
It'd be great if somebody would try it out and see if stuff seems to work. I think I managed to carry over everything from the old fight pages.
It's far from optimized, page speed wise, which I am aware of, so please no nerdy critiques of how many JavaScript files it uses, thanks.
