Dudes....

Been a week now.

We've all been patient, but today I got laid off after 7 1/2 years at Microsoft, am not in a good mood, and I need something fun to distract me. Right about now would be a perfect time to dig into GoM.

At the very least, please let everyone who worked hard to make the deadline, or is still working hard to finish their song, when we should expect this all to be up. Late is ok; complete silence is just kinda infuriating.

Oh dang, Jim, sorry to hear that.

I haven't had the time or energy to work on mine. This is the first time I've ever been late on something like this and I feel terrible about it.

i'm sorry covers it on every front.

i'll say it as well when i send my file in, which should be in a time frame not At All far away and that it would be pointless to place in this message because it will sound like something tacked onto the back of an excuse. Double Quick and On-it are all that come to mind. My situation is irrelevant.

so back to it. :)

ps. (i am also not a late-stifferiffic-sort of person in the least either. not remotely. and i have a list of "behind"-on-it stuff now. so this is appalling and I'm quite furious in many directions at the moment)

i have only been privy to one other GoM, but to my knowledge it was never known as a prompt, on time, everyone-gets-everything-done-when-their-supposed-to-and-it-gets-posted-in-a-timely-fashion sort of thing. last year i believe we waited well into February for the posting. i dont believe that Niv runs the Soul Tree Records website that hosts the songs, so i doubt that he could make it go any faster even if he wanted to. patience is a virtue best served cold (?)... or something

I could host these songs if Eddie is tired of dealing with the hullaballoo...

Sorry to everyone, if I have seemed off the radar in the last few days. Things have been more than a little crazy at my job.

I haven't heard from Eddie. Last I spoke to him, he was very adamant about how he wanted the songs up before the month's end. So, it's just a waiting game.

@Anti-M
Thanks for the offer though Eddie seems to love having the GOM as a part of the Soul Tree Records website.

I think that since the actual posting of the songs is so much later than the announced deadline, that everyone who submitted late should still be eligible to win the prizes.

And for the record, I'm not one of those people, I just think it's fair, since it doesn't look to me like the people who submitted a day or two after the deadline slowed the works down at all.

Yeah, but I kind of busted my ass to get it in by the deadline, which I barely made, on a day where I was doing a thousand other things and was totally stressed out.
As a result, there's so many things I'm not happy about in my recording, things that another day or two (or TEN) would have allowed me to fix.
But this is the tradeoff, because, DEADLINE! and you know when you're doing it that everyone's in the same boat. With 'consequences' for not getting it in on time. Right?

A friend and I sat down this weekend and put the song together in a single take. It's fully enhanced with the raw stadium punk rock experience.

I agree. I could have used a few more days to get some better vocal takes, but I respected the deadline, and I got it in when it was due. It doesn't seem fair at all to let others have a few extra days...
