2012-02-14: valentine's day

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

2012-02-14: valentine's day

Post by Manhattan Glutton »

It's almost over.
Discuss.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

I worked from 3:30pm -11:00pm. I served 24 people, sold over $2000 worth of food and drinks, and walked home with $284. didn't have any big spenders this year, but lots of really nice, and satisfied people. Dinner was a five course meal with a bunch of choices: amuse-bouche was foie gras mousse with pistashio and black cherry, and a green olive and pimento cheese crustini. appetizer choices included lobster gnocchi, Chesapeake oysters on half shell and Italian wedding soup among others. Everyone received a salad with beets, radishes, parmisean cheese, and a white balsalmic basil vinegrette. Everybody seemed to be getting the beef tenderloin, or the scallops, I think because they came with potatoes and risotto, rather than grits or pasta. But the trio of crispy pork belly, homemade pork raviolo, and Grilled pork ribeye was what I would have eaten. Dessert was a trio of pomegranate panna cotta, sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, and chocolate ganache cake with espresso semi-fredo. I got to try a couple things, but I could tell it was all good. However, my feet hurt. After walking up and down stairs to the second floor where my section was, these dogs are barking. But it was a pretty good day.

My sister had a rough week last week, so I made her a chocolate-chip filled Oreo cheesecake... which I just delievered to her today. I didn't intend on it being a Valentine's gift, but whatever. We sat with her husband and just watched TV, made jokes, caught up, and had a family night... more or less. I gotta say, one of the best V Day's I've had in awhile.

Whether you had love, food, or worked on the next song (or all three even), here's hoping everyone had a good 14th.

I assume this all comes in a bun covered in melted cheese?

My ear infection is starting to clear up, finally. Who knows what my next health-related ordeal will be.

Also started a new project cycle today, and things are really hitting their stride.

Got the proof back on my comic book. It looks great. Cover needs some work but I'm trying a few comps. Fortunately the printer isn't too far from my office and he had some good ideas about how to improve it, so hopefully I'll finally have it in the hands of my donors soon (not to mention other people who want to buy it after missing out on the Kickstarter drive). As an amazing coincidence, when I went to pick up the proof, they had just finished up the proof of another book as well.

I've been thinking about trying to find an online community where people work on music and give each other reviews and maybe they base it on something like all trying to use the same seed idea for their songs or whatever. I think that could really help me with my songwriting. Anyone know of such a thing?

1. I got a valentine in my email that made me happy :)
2. My husband and I got flowers from my sister-in-law and brother. Tulips
3. We brought cinnamon rolls for everyone for dinner and Mike took a stupid picture of me with them on the sides of my head.
4. I finally got enough courage to stick up for myself about something that's been bothering me for a while.
5. We had a nice dinner with my whole family.
6. I had a nice conversation with my Dad and more nice Valentines wishes from good friends as well
7. I planned my website
8. I chilled with my husband and fell asleep in the couch upon accident after he went to bed so am just getting to Real Sleep now.

I am dehydrated for some reason. We did have a bit of wine.. :)
