Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
I can absolutely recommend the Classik Studio Reverb from IK Multimedia, and I know a lot of people use T Racks to "master" their songs. $50 for both of them is a steal, considering they cost $200 regularly. GET THIS!!

Not from MF, but Hello Music has the Fender Blues Junior III tube amp for $398. Normally $729. I've always liked the blues junior. From this video, the III just has some updated features, but it's still the same as the original for the most part. I want.
The dud sounds like Jack Black, lol.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
I saw that deal, it's very tempting. I already have too many amps, though. Maybe I could retire my Fender hybrid amp for a Junior, but otoh that amp is my first amp, and I've had it almost 20 years. Not sure I can let it go...

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
If it's good, there's no reason to let it go.
And I've been getting the Hello Music emails ever since you bought your last amp. And you even warned about their email rape. I must get 4 a day at least, lol. I almost directed them to spam, but I found I like seeing what new stuff they have. Like the ESP LTD bass for $279 they posed earlier. Not that I need a bass, but I've always like the P-bass style setup.
I need to either work on my Ibanez bass or send it out because I don't have time. But the jack plate is broken, the 3 position switch is dirty/finicky, needs new string, lol. I bought them,so I made the first step. But I'm looking at the string right now siting on my desk, lol.

The problem for me with the GC coupons is that in the fine print it says "Some manufacturers have chosen not to participate in this coupon" with a URL pointing to the list of manufacturers:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/GC-Coupon-D ... 25685t0.gc
The list includes pretty much every big brand whose products I would want.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
Weird. The guitar I got was by Ovation, which is on the list, but they still applied the discount to it. But I also bought a case at the same time, and that was $100 so maybe they just applied the reduction to that (but on the receipt it looked like they applied it equally to everything).Lunkhead wrote:The problem for me with the GC coupons is that in the fine print it says "Some manufacturers have chosen not to participate in this coupon" with a URL pointing to the list of manufacturers:

Anyway, it was a GC sales associate who mentioned the coupon to me in-store, and he just sent it to my email and read it back off my cellphone. Maybe it was a different coupon? Or maybe the GC dudes here are stoned enough that they did something they shouldn't have. (I'm guessing the latter.)

Nice. I bet it sounds good. I have an Ovation Applause. It sounds good, but the aluminum neck is not something I'd ever do again. Way too finicky as temperatures change.fluffy wrote:thisBilly's Little Trip wrote:Wudjya get?fluffy wrote:Just as a tip, right now Guitar Center has a $100 off on any purchase $499 or up deal going on, as I found out when I went there to buy a new guitar today.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
Today's is an excellent deal on the Rogue violin bass (Hoefner knockoff) I got a while ago. It's a great bass with both a good sound and a good look, and the SDotD price (which you don't see until you put it in your cart) is $149.99.

And today's is the Korg MiniKP Kaoss Pad for $70 off, which I'd been thinking about getting anyway so this was a no-brainer for me.

Is that like the thing the bass player in Muse uses on the song madness? I saw them on SNL 4 or 5 weeks ago and he was using a touch screen mounted to his bass in real time for the synth fx. It piqued my interest.fluffy wrote:And today's is the Korg MiniKP Kaoss Pad for $70 off, which I'd been thinking about getting anyway so this was a no-brainer for me.

Looks like a custom Misa Kitana double neck, with a headless bass as the lower neck.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
It's almost too late but my favorite workhorse microphone, the MXL V63M, is today's stupid deal. I have a whole bunch of different mics and these are the ones I still end up using for everything just because they're easy to work with and give a nice crisp, bright sound that's receptive to all sorts of EQing.

You talk about those mics a lot. You tend to be a good source of real life unbiased info, I've come to realize.
You wouldn't happen to have a Studio Projects B1 to compare it to, would you? That's my main condenser mic and I'd be interested in knowing the difference.

I have and have had both MXL and Studio Projects mics and in general think Studio Projects are better.

Good to know, and disappointing. I was hoping my awful vox were because of my mic.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
I'd check out a Studio Projects mic if I ever saw one on sale on Musician's Friend. I think every single mic I own was an MF SDotD.

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
Today's SDOTD is an MXL 990XL for $89. The nice thing about the XL model is that it has an actual large diaphragm capsule, while the regular 990 is actually a small diaphragm capsule in the same body. You can pick this up for $89 and then upgrade the electronics for another $99 with this kit: http://microphone-parts.com/mod-kits/mxl-990-upgrades/

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend
Hello World has deals on a couple of very sweet guitar fx pedals. One is the tc electronic Flashback delay, which I have, and think is super awesome. They've got it for $139, which is $30 less then the Musician's Friend price.
http://www.hellomusic.com/Items/flashback-delay
The other is the tc electronic Hall of Fame reverb, which I do not have, but I'm thinking about getting. It's only $15 (aka 10% in this case) off the Musician's Friend price.
http://www.hellomusic.com/items/hall-of-fame-reverb
I have the Flashback and another tc pedal, the Mojo Mojo overdrive, and they are really excellent pedals, very high quality in every way. The Flashback and Hall of Fame also both have tc's "TonePrint" feature, which is basically a preset slot into which you can download custom presets either from tc's Web site, or even cooler is if you do it via their mobile app. The way it works is, you find the TonePrint you want, then you put your phone's speaker up to your guitar's pickup and it somehow "beams" the preset into your pedal, no computer or wires needed.
