3/20/13- Music Videos

Post by Niveous »

Happy Extraterrestrial Abduction Day!

QotD: Have you ever made a music video?
QotD2: Is there a Songfight song you wish had a music video?

MTV may have changed its format to TV shows about young people making bad decisions, but the art form of the music video is still going. It probably carries more weight now that it has in the last few years because so much musical consumption is through YouTube and other video outlets instead of terrestrial radio. I have been a long time fan of music videos, ever since seeing Godley & Creme's face morphing "Cry" video as a kid, I have always enjoyed the mixture of music with a visual medium. So, I'm curious to know if Songfighters have explored the world of music video,

QotD 1: Yes, a few. Here's one I'm sort of proud of. It was back before I started dialing in my sound. But I've always liked this song. Plus I'm a Tarantino fan. His fil-imz inspires me.

QotD 2: Pretty much every Paco del Stinko song would be an incredible music video.

1: Nope. Not yet, anyway.
2: Zombie Son, #, any version. Mad Dog is always a joy to behold. And the one-two punch of Spud & Mad Dog is... :D

I started making videos for Bad Cat and the original version of Rhymes with Lucia, but I never got around to finishing either. I also was working with a so-called professional animator on a video for Safety in Numbers when he suddenly pulled out because he decided that he'd rather work only on pieces that would get him publicity to land more paying jobs in the future (rather than work on a "bedroom project"). Fuck you.

(Incidentally, this so-called professional animator had originally said he'd do that as payment for the soundtrack I'd done for him on one of his works. Let that be a lesson: NEVER BARTER FOR WORK.)

I had envisioned making some punchy music videos for my songs "Your Little Heart" and "Grown Up Geek," but it never wound up happening. Cameras are expensive, yo.

I've always wished we had some videos for Frontalittle Squad songs.

I always thought JoS's SF Orchestra would be great fodder for a weird animated video.

i don't have any myself. i always thought it would be fun to make a campy video for my "soft orange glow" but we'd need somebody besides me to act out those parts. i am not an actor. i suppose i could play the guitar on the video or something.

I know, I LOVE this one. I keep it on mt youtube play list for parties. It looks great on my 60" and house bumping surround sound.
Ha, I just noticed I'm the only one that left a comment. :P
