Well, Abbey Road, of course.

And, just as obvious, Dark Side of the Moon.

Californication has a really haunting photo on its front cover.

Most of Peter Gabriel's albums have really compelling cover art, but especially his self-titled ones, and especially the third one:

I've been doing a lot of research on albums that were important to me in my youth, as part of a column I put up weekly on Google+ called Nostalgia Monday. I'm finding the album art on a lot of these albums to be more engaging than I remembered to gave credit for. In particular System of a Down's Toxicity is a perfect embodiment of the theme of American corruption that pervades the album:

Here are some others that have struck me recently:

The one with the wavy illusion is "Merriweather Post Pavillion" by Animal Collective.

When I was about 18 - my friends and I went to Sydney to see Australia play the West Indies and we stayed in a caravan park where one of my friends got really drunk and passed out face down on the grass. I took a photo of him. When we started a band a few years later - called The Mess - we always said that would be our first album cover. Well, The Mess album never happened - but that photo did show up 20 years later for Caravan Ray's first album. I think it is a pretty cool cover:

Nobody ever gets the (pretty gross) joke on the album cover of foodsexsleep, which is probably for the best.

Oh yeah, if we're talking about our own album covers, I absolutely adore the one that my friend Myusollo made for me a few years ago:
